Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how different family residence structures, specifically three-generation and skip-generation households, impact adolescents' non-cognitive abilities, like emotional stability and agreeableness.
  • Using data and advanced statistical methods, it finds that three-generation families have a positive influence on certain traits, while skip-generation families can negatively impact emotional stability.
  • The research emphasizes the significant role of grandparents in adolescent development and suggests policy changes to improve the well-being of adolescents living in skip-generation homes.

The sensitive and stable detection of trace heavy metals in liquid is crucial given its profound impact on various aspects of human life. Currently, nanoparticle-enhanced laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (NELIBS) with dried droplet method (DDM) is widely applied for heavy metals detection. Nevertheless, the coffee ring effect (CRE) in DDM affects the stability, accuracy, and sensitivity of NELIBS.

Ultrasensitive sensing to trace atomic and molecular analytes has gained interest for its intimate relation to industrial sectors and human lives. One of the keys to ultrasensitive sensing for many analytical techniques lies in enriching trace analytes onto well-designed substrates. However, the coffee ring effect, nonuniform distribution of analytes onto substrates, in the droplet drying process hinders the ultrasensitive and stable sensing onto the substrates.

Electrolyte disturbance is very common and harmful, increasing the mortality of critical patients. Hence, rapid and accurate detection of electrolyte levels is vital in clinical practice. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) has the advantage of rapid and simultaneous detection of multiple elements, which meets the needs of clinical electrolyte detection.

The COVID-19 pandemic has spread across the country negatively impacting on the economy. This paper uses the panel data of 14 prefecture-level cities from 2015 to 2020 in Hunan to determine the factors and effects of economic downturns based on the spatial econometric model. We calculate the Moran index, so-called the Moran's I, to analyse the impact of each factor on the economy.

An application based on a microservice architecture with a set of independent, fine-grained modular services is desirable, due to its low management cost, simple deployment, and high portability. This type of container technology has been widely used in cloud computing. Several methods have been applied to container-based microservice scheduling, but they come with significant disadvantages, such as high network transmission overhead, ineffective load balancing, and low service reliability.
