This manuscript aims to address this gap by developing novel open-access computational phantoms representing the Chinese population.

Effect of rutin on the structural and functional properties of ovalbumin.

Phenolic substances affect protein functionality. This study aimed to examine how rutin influences the gel properties, antioxidant activity, and structure of ovalbumin (OVA). Increasing rutin concentration enhanced the gel hardness of OVA but reduced soluble protein content with no significant effect on water retention.

With vertical stacking, 3D NAND's flash memory can achieve continuous capacity growth. However, the endurance variation between the stacked layers becomes more and more significant due to process variation, which will lead to the underutilization of many pages and seriously affect the lifetime of 3D NAND's flash memory. We investigated the endurance variation characteristics between layers and divided the stacked layers into the top, middle, and bottom layers according to the endurance characteristics.

Longitudinal Efficacy of Nusinersen Treatment on Health-Related Quality of Life and Independence in Children With Later-Onset Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Introduction/aims: The rising use of disease-modifying therapy is progressively impacting the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in their daily lives. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in HRQoL and independence in children with later-onset SMA receiving longitudinal treatment with nusinersen.

C/EBPα-mediated ACSL4-dependent ferroptosis exacerbates tubular injury in diabetic kidney disease.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a prevalent and debilitating complication of diabetes characterized by progressive renal function decline and a lack of effective treatment options. Here, we investigated the role of the transcription factor CCAAT/enhancer binding protein alpha (C/EBPα) in DKD pathogenesis. Analysis of renal biopsy samples revealed increased C/EBPα expression in patients with DKD.

Background: Inadequate surface matching, variation in the guide design, and soft tissue on the skeletal surface may make it difficult to accurately place the 3D-printed patient-specific instrument (PSI) exactly to the designated site, leading to decreased accuracy, or even errors. Consequently, we developed a novel 3D-printed PSI with fluoroscopy-guided positioning markers to enhance the accuracy of osteotomies in joint-preserving surgery. The current study was to compare whether the fluoroscopically calibrated PSI (FCPSI) can achieve better accuracy compared with freehand resection and conventional PSI (CPSI) resection.

Antisolvent precipitation for the synergistic preparation of ultrafine particles of nobiletin under ultrasonication-homogenization and evaluation of the inhibitory effects of α-glucosidase and porcine pancreatic lipase in vitro.

To further enhance the application of nobiletin (an important active ingredient in Citrus fruits), we used ultrasonic homogenization-assisted antisolvent precipitation to create ultrafine particles of nobiletin (UPN). DMSO was used as the solvent, and deionized water was used as the antisolvent. When ultrasonication (670 W) and homogenization (16000 r/min) were synergistic, the solution concentration was 57 mg/mL, and the minimum particle size of UPN was 521.

Background: The increasing annual global deaths are attributable to noncommunicable chronic diseases (NCDs). Adhering to healthy lifestyle behaviors is associated with lower NCD risk, particularly among individuals with ample movement, enough sleep, and reduced sedentariness. Nevertheless, there are only few prospective assessments on the association of interactions between daily activities with NCD prevention, while the associations between adhering to Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines (24HGs) for adults and NCD risks are still unknown.

Advanced deep learning models for phenotypic trait extraction and cultivar classification in lychee using photon-counting micro-CT imaging.

Introduction: In contemporary agronomic research, the focus has increasingly shifted towards non-destructive imaging and precise phenotypic characterization. A photon-counting micro-CT system has been developed, which is capable of imaging lychee fruit at the micrometer level and capturing a full energy spectrum, thanks to its advanced photon-counting detectors.

Methoxychlor (MXC) is an organochlorine pesticide (OCP) that was formerly used worldwide as an insecticide against pests and mosquitoes. However, MXC is not biodegradable and has lipophilic characteristics; thus, it accumulates in organisms and affects reproductive function. MXC, as an estrogenic compound, promotes oxidative stress, induces oxidative stress damage to ovarian follicles, and causes miscarriages and stillbirths in females.

Rapid and sensitive detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa by isothermal amplification combined with Cas12a-mediated detection.

CRISPR based technologies have been used for fast and sensitive detection of pathogens. To test the possibility of CRISPR based detection strategy in Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, a combined method of recombinase polymerase amplification followed by Cas12a-mediated detection via fluorescence reader or lateral flow biosensor (named Cas12a-RCFL) has been established in this study. The Cas12a-RCFL can detect as low as 50 CFU/mL Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Many patients with Type B aortic dissection (TBAD) may not show noticeable symptoms until they become intervention and help prevent critically ill, which can result in fatal outcomes. Thus, it is crucial to screen people at high risk of TBAD and initiate the necessary preventive and therapeutic measures before irreversible harm occurs. By developing a prediction model for aortic arch morphology, it is possible to accurately identify those at high risk and take prompt action to prevent the adverse consequences of TBAD.

Ultrasonic assisted extraction is frequently referred to as a green environmental protection method. The flower of Citrus maxima (FCM) has been used as a health tea drink in China, although the tea drink lacks clear compound composition identification and functional research. In order to fully use Citrus fruit by-products and further explore the functional features of FCM, this paper isolated, identified, and assessed the chemical compounds in the petals, stems, styles, receptacles, stamens, and buds of FCM extract.
