Background: Annually, about 4000 US children undergo a tracheostomy procedure to provide a functional, safe airway. In the hospital, qualified staff monitor and address problems, but post-discharge this responsibility shifts entirely to caregivers. The stress and constant demands of caregiving for a child with a tracheostomy with or without ventilator negatively affect caregivers.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine children's perception of secondary cleft lip deformity (SCLD) using objective eye tracking technology and subjective responses on a survey to understand pediatric perceptions of facial scarring.

Design: Cross-sectional study of participants aged 5-17 years old.

Methods: Participants viewed images of children's faces with an eye tracking device.

Objectives: Children with cleft palates often have comorbid eustachian tube dysfunction requiring pressure equalization tubes (PETs). PETs can relieve middle ear effusions that impede hearing. Ideal PET placement timing in this population is controversial.

Objectives: Stickler syndrome (SS) is a heterogeneous inherited connective tissue disorder, often due to a mutation in or . Mutations in these genes cause collagen abnormalities affecting ocular, auditory, orofacial, and skeletal systems, including hearing loss, micrognathia, and cleft palate. Understanding the variability of hearing phenotypes based on genetic mutation has a significant impact on treatment and long-term care.

Objective: To determine whether the two most common genetic mutations seen in Stickler Syndrome (SS) (COL2A1 and COL11A1) affect the incidence of mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO) and what impact Robin sequence (RS) has on diagnosis. SS is an autosomal dominant connective tissue disorder characterized by almost complete penetrance. COL2A1 and COL11A1 are the two most common mutations seen in SS patients.

Objective: To determine whether surgical intervention for submucous cleft palate (SMCP) is more common in children with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q DS) compared to children without 22q DS.

Design: Retrospective chart review.

Nanosized materials have been an important subject in basic and applied sciences. A novel, low-cost, green and reproducible bacteria, Aeromonas hydrophila mediated biosynthesis of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) was reported. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized by FTIR, XRD, AFM and FESEM with EDX.

Objective: To investigate the larvicidal activity of synthesized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) utilizing aqueous bark extract of Ficus racemosa (F. racemosa) was tested against fourth instar larvae of filariasis vector, Culex quinquefasciatus (Cx. quinquefasciatus) and japanese encephalitis vectors, Culex gelidus (Cx.

The present study was on assessment of the anti-parasitic activities of nickel nanoparticles (Ni NPs) against the larvae of cattle ticks Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus and Hyalomma anatolicum (a.) anatolicum (Acari: Ixodidae), fourth instar larvae of Anopheles subpictus, Culex quinquefasciatus and Culex gelidus (Diptera: Culicidae). The metallic Ni NPs were synthesized by polyol process from Ni-hydrazine as precursor and Tween 80 as both the medium and the stabilizing reagent.

The present study was to determine the efficacies of anti-parasitic activities of synthesized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using stem aqueous extract of Cissus quadrangularis against the adult of hematophagous fly, Hippobosca maculata (Diptera: Hippoboscidae), and the larvae of cattle tick, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (Acari: Ixodidae). Contact toxicity method was followed to determine the potential of parasitic activity. Twelve milliliters of stem aqueous extract of C.
