Article Synopsis
- Child immunization is vital to protect against vaccine-preventable diseases, but many children miss vaccinations due to various factors, including the newly considered fear of COVID-19. This study focused on understanding these factors in South Ethiopia among children aged 15-23 months.
- Using a community-based case-control design, researchers analyzed data from 255 children, conducting face-to-face interviews with caregivers to identify key factors contributing to immunization defaulting.
- The analysis revealed four major predictors for not completing vaccinations: lack of antenatal care follow-up, postponing the vaccination schedule, higher mother parity, and poor maternal knowledge about vaccinations, indicating areas for intervention to improve immunization rates.
