Primary hepatic lymphoma represents <1% of extranodal lymphoma and predominantly seen in men older than 50 years of age. Exact etiology for these tumors is not certain yet, but presumed to be caused by certain viruses like Epstein-Barr virus and hepatitis C virus due to the frequent association of these viruses with disease. Most of these tumors are diffuse large B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Sitendu Kumar Patel"

  • - Sitendu Kumar Patel's research primarily focuses on the intersection of diabetes and renal health, highlighting the impact of hypomagnesaemia as a modifiable risk factor for diabetic nephropathy.
  • - His findings indicate a concerning trend in India where diabetes mellitus is increasingly diagnosed at younger ages, with significant prevalence leading to end-stage renal disease among type 2 DM patients.
  • - Additionally, Patel has explored rare malignancies, specifically primary hepatic lymphoma, which is a rare form of extranodal lymphoma, emphasizing the potential role of viral infections in its etiology.
