Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the effectiveness of various extracts from plant leaves against eggs and larvae of parasites, finding that dried plant materials significantly inhibited larval development when mixed with sheep feces.
  • The research employed chemical analyses, including GC-MS, to identify potent compounds like saponins and flavonoids in the extracts.
  • Results showed that all five types of extracts displayed strong larvicidal activity, with the methanol extract that facilitated silver nanoparticles being particularly effective at lower concentrations.

Introduction: Multiple symptoms occur in people with kidney failure receiving haemodialysis (HD) and these symptoms have a negative impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Fatigue, the most common symptom, is debilitating and difficult to manage. Educational interventions involving energy conservation strategies are helpful in reducing fatigue, however the effectiveness of energy conservation has not been previously studied in those receiving HD.

Background: People with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) suffer from multiple symptoms, which have a negative impact on their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Educational and behavioural interventions are being developed for this population; however, the effect of these interventions is unclear.

Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of educational or behavioural interventions compared with standard care or alternative strategies on reducing symptoms and improving HRQoL in adults with ESKD receiving haemodialysis (HD).

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, with long term macrovascular and microvascular complications. The treatment is lifestyle management, exercise, weight control, and antihyperglycemic drugs such as sulfonylureas, biguanides, alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, thiazolidinediones, and meglitinide. Recently, a direct association between high levels of C-reactive protein and serum adenosine deaminase levels in patients with uncontrolled diabetes with long-term complications has been seen.

The genetic diversity of MHC class II DQ genes was investigated in riverine buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) by PCR-RFLP and sequencing. Highly variable regions (exons 2-3) of DQ genes were amplified from 152 buffaloes and genotyped by PCR-RFLP. Alleles identified by differential restriction patterns were sequenced for the characterization.
