Article Synopsis
  • Stallion mules often require surgical castration to control aggression caused by testosterone, but a GnRH vaccine may offer a non-surgical alternative for immunocastration.
  • The study involved 25 mules grouped into Control-intact, Control-castrated, and Treatment groups, with the Treatment group receiving the GnRH vaccine and showing changes in hormone levels and antibody concentrations.
  • Results indicated that the vaccine effectively lowered testosterone levels for up to 14 weeks, with some minor adverse effects noted, such as swelling at the injection site.
