[In vitro susceptibility to linezolid in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus strains].

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) worldwide. Linezolid which is one of the first oxazolidinones in clinical use, has bacteriostatic activity on gram-positive bacteria including MRSA and VRE. The aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro susceptibilities of MRSA and VRE clinical isolates to linezolid.
