We previously discovered that macrophages (MΦs), especially tumor-associated MΦs (tMΦs), contribute to chemotherapy resistance in multiple myeloma (MM). However, the mechanism underlying MΦ-mediated chemotherapy resistance in MM needs further elucidation, and the identification of factors that preferentially abrogate MΦ-induced inhibition of MM chemotherapy may have important clinical significance. In this study, we showed that the expression of FASN and SCD2, the enzymes that synthesize palmitic acid and convert it to palmitoleic acid, was decreased in tMΦs compared with MΦs.

Few transcription factors have been examined for their direct roles in physically connecting enhancers and promoters. Here acute degradation of Yin Yang 1 (YY1) in erythroid cells revealed its requirement for the maintenance of numerous enhancer-promoter loops, but not compartments or domains. Chiral trisubstituted vicinal diols are a type of important organic compounds, serving as both common structure units in bioactive natural products and chiral auxiliaries in asymmetric synthesis. Herein, by using siloxypropadienes as the precursors of allyl copper(I) species, a copper(I)-catalyzed diastereoselective and enantioselective reductive allylation of ketones was achieved, providing both syn-diols and anti-diols in good to excellent enantioselectivity. DFT calculations show that cis-γ-siloxy-allyl copper species are generated favorably with either 1-TBSO-propadiene or 1-TIPSO-propadiene.
