Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to explore changes in brain function in patients with dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON) using functional MRI and assess how these changes relate to vision performance.
  • - Researchers compared spontaneous brain activity (measured by regional homogeneity or ReHo) among patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy, finding significant differences between those with and without DON, particularly in specific brain regions.
  • - The results indicated that ReHo metrics, especially from the left posterior cingulate cortex, could serve as effective diagnostic markers for distinguishing DON from non-DON patients.

Aim: Previously, neuroimaging studies on comorbid Posttraumatic-Major depression disorder (PTSD-MDD) comorbidity found abnormalities in multiple brain regions among patients. Recent neuroimaging studies have revealed dynamic nature on human brain activity during resting state, and entropy as an indicator of dynamic regularity may provide a new perspective for studying abnormalities of brain function among PTSD-MDD patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant increase in the number of patients with PTSD-MDD.
