Importance: Although seroepidemiological studies indicate that greater than 50% of the population has been infected with John Cunningham virus (JCV), the sites of JCV persistence remain incompletely characterized.
Objective: To determine sites of JCV persistence in immunologically healthy individuals.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Tissue specimens from multiple sites including brain, renal, and nonrenal tissues were obtained at autopsy performed in the Department of Pathology at the University of Kentucky from 12 immunologically healthy patients between February 9, 2011, and November 27, 2012.

A colorimetric and fluorometric probe (E)-2-((8-hydroxy-1,2,3,5,6,7-hexahydropyrido[3,2,1-ij]quinolin-9-yl)methylene)hydrazinecarbothioamide based on thiosemicarbazide and julolidine moieties has been synthesised in pure crystalline form and characterized by H NMR, UV-vis, elemental analysis and single crystal XRD. The probe functioned as multitarget ion sensor, detect biologically important metal ions Hg and Mn in dual channel mode. Meanwhile, in mixed solvent media DMF/HO [8:2], probe displayed selectivity for Hg over other cations by the emission spectrum.

Now infrequent in clinical practice, in the pre-H2 receptor antagonist (H2RA) era, the incidence of GGU varied between 12 and 24% of all gastric ulcers. Proton pump inhibitors reportedly achieve better healing rates and symptom relief in comparison to H2RA.

Methods: In July 2014, 402 consecutive patients presenting to plastic surgery clinics at the University of Florida, Veterans Affairs (VA), and Private Practices in Gainesville, Florida were requested to complete a survey regarding utilization of and attitudes towards IM.
Objectives: (1) To assess the impact of different lifestyle factors on periodontal health of adults. (2) To assess the impact of overall/combined lifestyle variable (calculated by health practice index [HPI]) on periodontal health of adults.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study consisting of a structured questionnaire on HPI, oral health-related behavior, and personal habits as well as sociodemographic variables was conducted on 800 subjects aged 20-50 years attending dental outreach set-ups of Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal.
Calciphylaxis, or calcific uremic arteriolopathy, is a rare but particularly morbid condition involving systemic medial calcification of arterioles causing ischemia and subsequent tissue necrosis. Although most commonly occurring over the abdomen and proximal extremities, calciphylaxis can present on nearly any skin surface with a tendency toward areas of increased adiposity. We report a case of a 53-year-old female with end-stage renal disease who presented with bilateral palpable breast masses and overlying skin changes.

Fem proteins are the essential structural proteins of various gram-positive bacteria. These are of three different types namely FemX (FmhB), FemA and FemB. Only two Fem protein crystallographic structures are available till date, one for FemA in Staphylococcus aureus and another for FemX in Weissella viridescensis.

So the objective of the present randomized clinical trial was to compare microbial counts in cavities submitted to complete caries removal and partial caries removal using either hand instruments or burs before and after 3 weeks of restoration.
Materials And Methods: Primary molars with acute carious lesions in inner half of dentine and vital pulp were randomly divided into three groups of 14 each: Group A: Partial caries removal using hand instruments atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) only; Group B: Partial caries removal using bur; Group C: Complete caries removal using bur and caries detector dye.
Introduction: Coronal and apical leakage still remains one of the most important cause for endodontic failure in spite of the presence of advanced endodontic materials. The cause may attribute to different filling techniques, physical and chemical properties of sealers and presence or absence of smear layer assessment of coronal or apical leakage is used as a research method to compare the sealing ability of different techniques and endodontic materials.
Aim: To compare the coronal bacterial leakage using methylene blue in four different obturation techniques after protaper hand instrumentation.
Extraoral sinus tract often poses a diagnostic challenge to the clinician owing to its rare occurrence and absence of symptoms. The accurate diagnosis and comprehensive management are inevitable as the aetiology of such lesions is often masked and requires holistic approach. The present case report encompasses the management of an extraoral discharging sinus tract at the base of the right nostril in a chronic smoker.

This manuscript demonstrates our preliminary results when translating this technique to humans.
Methods: A retrospective review was performed of all free-flap breast reconstructions utilizing the high-volume hydrodissection technique performed by the senior author (DS) at the University of Florida Medical Center from January 2014 to June 2015.
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of using drop application strips on eye drop instillation in glaucoma patients on chronic topical ocular hypotensive therapy.
Methods: A total of 72 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma with an uncorrected visual acuity of 3/60 or more, self-administering topical antiglaucoma medication for >1 year were evaluated. One eye of each patient was included in the study.
Oct4, pluripotency marker and transcription factor, expresses in embryonic stem cells. It plays a pivotal role in determination of stem cells fate. Up and down regulation of Oct4 causes differentiation of embryonic stem cells.

A novel hydrazone, 1,3-bis (2-formylphenoxy) propane bis (2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine) (S) has been synthesized and characterized by the NMR, IR, CHNS, UV-Vis, Raman, TEM and XPS analysis. Upon the addition of monohydrogen phosphate (MHP) ion, sudden color change from light yellow to dark violet has occurred. The binding constant of S-MHP was determined by Hill plot.

Background And Aim: The increased media attention to shark attacks has led to a heightened fear and public awareness. Although few sharks are considered dangerous, attacks on humans can result in large soft tissue defects necessitating the intervention of reconstructive surgeons. This study aims to evaluate and describe the characteristics of shark-related injuries in order to improve treatment.

However, in some instances, post space preparation can produce excessive frictional heat leading to significant damage to the attachment apparatus of the tooth as well as to the overlying soft tissue. This report describes a case of mucosal dehiscence arising due to trauma induced by inadvertent post space preparation.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) therapy as a temporizing measure in these complex scalp defects with dural or cortical brain exposure and a hostile local wound environment.
Methods: From December 2012 to December 2013, all composite scalp and calvarial defects reconstructed by the senior author (D.
