Introduction: The benefit of complete revascularization in diabetic patients with myocardial infarction remains unclear. this study aims to find the optimal strategy of total vascular repair for diabetic patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Methods: In an analysis of a cohort, we assigned diabetic patients with myocardial infarction who were undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of the culprit lesion to receive either staged complete revascularization of nonculprit lesions or to receive no further revascularization in Madani Hospital (Tabriz, Iran).

Introduction: Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is a fundamental procedure for coronary artery disease management, yet the risk of adverse events such periprocedural myocardial injury (PMI) persists. This double-blind, randomized clinical trial aims to assess the efficacy of empagliflozin in preventing myocardial injury during PCI procedure.

Methods: A total of 90 patients were randomly assigned to two groups A and B; Group A as the intervention group received empagliflozin 25 mg 24 hours before and empagliflozin 10 mg 1-2 hours before coronary intervention and group Bas the control group received placebo at similar intervals.

The effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors on ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) is a novel concept and only limited number of animals studies have yet been investigated. We aimed to perform a systematic review of literature to explore the clinical studies which investigated the effects of SGLT-2 inhibitors on myocardial IRI setting. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Library from inception until December 7, 2023.

Globally, acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the leading cause of death. Early and precise diagnosis is essential for medical care to enhance prognoses and reduce mortality. The diagnosis of AMI relies primarily on conventional circulating biomarkers.

In patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), it is essential to determine the complexity of coronary lesions on presentation and predict the risk of no-reflow after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). Given that inflammation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, using inflammatory indices might be helpful in this setting. This prospective cohort study recruited 200 consecutive patients with STEMI who underwent pPCI.

Considering the role of inflammation in pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, we aimed to investigate the association of presentation neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with complexity of coronary artery lesions determined by SYNTAX score in patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). From March 2018 to March 2019, we recruited 202 consecutive patients, who were hospitalized for NSTE-ACS and had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention in our hospital. The association of presentation NLR with SYNTAX score was determined in univariate and multivariate linear regression analysis.

The knowledge regarding the demographic characteristics of patients with Covid-19 and risk factors distribution is still evolving. Considering the role of cigarette smoking in the pathogenesis of lung diseases and the effect of nicotine on expression of the entry receptor for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), it is important to determine the implications of smoking in COVID-19. In this brief report, by using the published articles in the literature, we aimed to compare the reported prevalence of smoking in patients with COVID-19 to the prevalence of smoking in the general population of the corresponding report.

We assessed the prognostic value of serum levels of endocan in patients with the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) through its correlation with the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) risk score and compared the possible association with clinical outcomes. In this prospective cross-sectional study, we enrolled 320 patients with documented ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), non-STEMI (NSTEMI), or unstable angina (UA) who underwent diagnostic coronary angiography. Endocan was measured soon after admission in the emergency department.

Background: Biomarkers possess important diagnostic and prognostic value in acute coronary syndromes (ACSs). Soluble lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (sLOX-1) is one of the markers involved in atherosclerotic plaque vulnerability and rupture.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of sLOX-1 through its correlation with Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) risk score and its possible association with clinical outcomes in 2 major spectrums of ACS.
