As one of the most common solid pediatric cancers, Neuroblastoma (NBL) accounts for 15% of all of the cancer-related mortalities in infants with increasing incidence all around the world. Despite current therapeutic approaches for NBL (radiotherapies, surgeries, and chemotherapies), these approaches could not be beneficial for all of patients with NBL due to their low effectiveness, and some severe side effects. These challenges lead basic medical scientists and clinical specialists toward an optimal medical interventions for clinical management of NBL.

Article Synopsis
  • Tuberculosis, caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is a significant global health issue, and rising drug resistance highlights the urgent need for new treatments.
  • Computer-aided drug design (CADD) is being utilized to create more effective and less toxic drugs for tuberculosis.
  • The study focused on two synthetic peptides, AKVUAM-1 and AKVUAM-2, which were designed to block interactions crucial for M. tuberculosis infection, showing promise without harming normal lung tissue and having varied minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) against different bacterial strains.

Background: Neonates are relatively prone to immediate, early, and late complications related to central venous cannulation (CVC). Ultrasound-guided brachiocephalic vein (BCV) cannulation has proven to be safe in neonates. Although studies addressed the immediate and early complications of CVC via BCV in neonates, few explored long-term maintenance-related complications.

Purpose: Recently, progesterone has been used to prevent LH surge instead of GnRH analogues during ART treatments, which is known as progesterone-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) protocol. During ART treatment, highly purified human menopausal gonadotropin (HP-hMG) and recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH) are two of the agents used for stimulation of antral follicles. The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy and success of HP-hMG and rFSH agents in the ovarian stimulation step of the PPOS protocol, which has not been previously reported in the literature.

In this study, we developed a modified NRA (MONRA) to determine the first and second-line drug susceptibilities of 5 reference ATCC strains and 42 clinical M. tuberculosis isolates. Unlike conventional NRA, which is often performed in solid media or 7H9 broth, the MONRA is performed in a different medium, AYC.

This is the first study to examine the role of monocyte distribution width (MDW) in predicting sepsis after cardiovascular surgery. This study included 43 consecutive patients who had undergone cardiovascular surgery between July 2021 and July 2022. All patients were examined at the following three time points (TPs): preoperative period (TP1), postoperative at 24 h (TP2), and discharge (TP3).

Although various approaches have been used in diabetes self-management education (DSME) programs, the effect of DSME programs on glycemic control is controversial. This study aimed to compare the effects of structured individual education and combined education on glycemic regulation in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study included T2DM patients who applied to the Ust Kaynarca Diabetes Center between 1 January 2018 and 11 March 2020.

Objective: In endometrial cancer surgery, sentinel lymph node dissection is used instead of staging surgery, particularly in advanced disease that is limited to the uterus. The aim of this study is to evaluate our practice of robotic sentinel lymph node dissection, which is applied to endometrial cancer patients in our tertiary cancer treatment center, according to the current literature, and to share our own data.

Methods: Included in our analysis are patients who underwent robotic sentinel lymph node dissection for endometrial cancer utilizing indocyanine green in our center between January 2018 and January 2024.

Aims: Sentinel lymph node dissection is performed in endometrial cancer surgery instead of staging surgery, particularly when the disease is advanced and confined to the uterus. The aim of this study is to share our sentinel lymph node detection rates via the vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery method with the literature and to demonstrate a safer and more comfortable surgical treatment process.

Methods: The analysis includes the patients who underwent surgery sentinel lymph node dissection for endometrial cancer utilizing indociyanin green in our center between January 2022 and June 2024.

Objective: Unicornuate uterus, which is a rare congenital anomaly, has been associated with obstetric and perinatal complications. The aim of this study is to evaluate the reproductive outcomes of patients with unicornuate uterus, and also to compare them with outcomes of infertile patients without a Müllerian anomaly.

Methods: Retrospective analyses of the data of 18-40 year old infertile patients with unicornuate uterus diagnosed in between January 2012 and December 2022, and a control group with the same number of patients, with age and infertility durations matched were performed.

Antibiotic resistance rapidly develops against almost all available therapeutics. Therefore, searching for new antibiotics to overcome the problem of antibiotic resistance alone is insufficient. Given that antibiotic resistance can be driven by mutagenesis, an avenue for preventing it is the inhibition of mutagenic processes.
