Picosecond pulse radiolysis measurements were employed to assess the effectiveness of N in scavenging quasi-free electrons in aqueous solutions. The absorption spectra of hydrated electrons were recorded within a 100 ps timeframe across four distinct solutions with N concentrations of 0.5, 1, 2, and 5 M in water.

This study documents the findings of a process and outcome evaluation of Cohort 2 of the LA DOOR program, covering services provided from January 2020 through February 2023. The goal of this evaluation is to better understand how the LA DOOR program was implemented and examine the effect of the program on various outcomes.

Objective: To survey members of the otolaryngology community about their personal and observed experiences of being treated differently because of one's physical attributes, cultural norms, or preferences in the workplace.
Study Design: Cross-sectional survey.
Setting: International Electronic Survey.
Tropical deep reefs (>30 m) are biologically and ecologically unique ecosystems with a higher geographic reach to shallow (<30 m) reefs. Yet they are poorly understood and rarely considered in conservation practices. Here, we characterise benthic and fish communities across a depth gradient (10-350 m) in remote coral atolls in Seychelles, Western Indian Ocean.

In this Perspective, we outline several recent (since 2015) examples of palladium-catalyzed carbonylations in streamlining complex natural product total synthesis and highlight the strategic importance of these carbonylation reactions in the corresponding synthesis. The selected examples include spinosyn A, callyspongiolide, perseanol, schizozygane alkaloids, cephanolides, and bisdehydroneostemoninine and related stemona alkaloids.

LA DOOR was funded through the grant program of Proposition 47. Programs funded through Proposition 47 are intended to serve individuals with a history of criminal justice involvement and mental health issues or substance use disorders and to offer mental health services, substance use disorder treatment, and diversion programs for justice-involved individuals.

Notably, PRMT5 is the only PRMT that requires an obligate cofactor, methylosome protein 50 (MEP50), to function. We developed compound , a novel small-molecule PRMT5:MEP50 protein-protein interaction (PPI) inhibitor, after initial virtual screen hit identification and analogue refinement.

Despite being disproportionately affected by COVID-19, little is known about the experiences of frontline healthcare workers serving marginalized populations in community settings.
Design: We used qualitative descriptive methods to understand the experiences of 12 frontline healthcare workers (HCWs) supporting primarily underserved populations in outpatient settings during COVID-19.
A nickel-catalyzed tandem Ueno-Stork cyclization is developed to enable stereoselective 1,2-dicarbofunctionalization of cyclic alkenes and efficiently build various bicyclic products. This new protocol does not involve any toxic or difficult-to-remove tin reagent and is scalable and amenable to build all-carbon quaternary centers.

While many difunctional initiators can respond to reducing conditions, procedures to prepare difunctional initiators that respond to oxidizing conditions are significantly less available in the literature. Here, a difunctional initiator incorporating an oxidizable boronic ester trigger was synthesized over four steps using simple and scalable procedures.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic much attention has been given to addressing the needs of hospital-based healthcare professionals delivering critical inpatient care. At the same time, other groups of essential frontline healthcare workers have continued to serve low-income and underserved populations whose healthcare and nonmedical needs did not cease, and in many cases were exacerbated by factors associated with the pandemic shutdown. As these same factors also potentially impacted well-being and effectiveness of frontline healthcare workers, we sought to understand the organizational-level responses to the pandemic, including the support and preparation for frontline workers.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA concise and stereoselective total synthesis of the clinically relevant tricyclic prostaglandin D metabolite (tricyclic-PGDM) methyl ester in racemic form was accomplished in eight steps from a readily available known cyclopentene-diol derivative. The synthesis features a nickel-catalyzed Ueno-Stork-type dicarbofunctionalization to generate two consecutive stereocenters, a palladium-catalyzed carbonylative spirolactonization to build the core oxaspirolactone, and a Z-selective cross-metathesis to introduce the (Z)-3-butenoate side chain, a group challenging to introduce through traditional Wittig protocols and troublesome for the two previous total syntheses. A general Z-selective cross-metathesis protocol to construct (Z)-β,γ-unsaturated esters was also developed that has broad functional group tolerance and high stereoselectivity.

Importantly, systemic delivery allowed NPs to efficiently utilize the entire microvasculature and gain access into the majority of the perivascular TME, which coincided with the APC-rich tumor areas leading to uptake of the NPs predominantly by APCs. In this work, a 60 nm NP was loaded with a STING agonist, which triggered robust production of interferon β, resulting in activation of APCs.

Previous ex vivo studies showed an FDA-approved collagenase (EN3835)-digested types I and III collagen fibers in fibroid tissues; however, collagenase had not been evaluated in vivo for effects on uterine fibroids. The objective was to assess the safety and tolerability of collagenase injection directly into uterine fibroids.

Previously, we demonstrated murine germline knockout of calcium-independent phospholipase Aγ (iPLAγ) prevented HF diet-induced weight gain, attenuated insulin resistance, and decreased mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening leading to alterations in bioenergetics. To gain insight into the specific roles of hepatic iPLAγ in mitochondrial function and cell death under metabolic stress, we generated a hepatocyte-specific iPLAγ-knockout (HEPiPLAγKO).
