Hepatitis B virus (HBV) Infection remains a public health problem and a threat to blood transfusion safety. The aim of this study was to summarise the scientific literature on the seroprevalence of HBV and occult HBV among blood donors in Africa. Searches were carried out in PubMed, Science Direct, Global Index Medicus and African Journals Online from 2012 to 2022.

Noroviruses are the second leading cause of death in children under the age of 5 years old. They are responsible for 200 million cases of diarrhoea and 50,000 deaths in children through the word, mainly in low-income countries. The objective of this review was to assess how the prevalence and genetic diversity of noroviruses have been affected by the introduction of rotavirus vaccines in Africa.

Performance of Molecular Tests in the Diagnosis of Syphilis From 2009 to 2019: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Syphilis continues to be a public health problem, and its diagnosis still has limitations. Molecular diagnosis provides an alternative for rapid and effective management. The objective is to determine the accuracy of tests in the molecular diagnosis of syphilis.

Role of Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR) genes in stages of HIV-1 infection among patients from Burkina Faso.

Objectives A cluster of specialized KIR genes of specialized KIR genes has been shown to be associated with susceptibility or resistance to viral infections in humans. Introduction: In sub-Saharan Africa, the high endemicity of blood-borne infections is a serious threat to transfusion safety. In order to improve transfusion safety, Burkina Faso has undertaken in recent years a reorganization of its blood-transfusion system through the creation of a National Blood Transfusion Center, which is the only blood operator in the whole country. Inhospital outcome of elderly patients in an intensive care unit in a Sub-Saharan hospital.

Background: In Burkina Faso, demographics are changing and we are seeing a growing prevalence of older patients in intensive care units. Elderly people have increased health care needs but there is a lack of geriatric specialists. This study aimed to analyze in-hospital outcome of patients aged over 65 years, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Yalgado Hospital.

[Clitoral reconstruction after female genital mutilation at CHU Yalgado of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. About 68 patients operated].

Objective: The objective of this survey was to assess the results of a new clitoral transposition technique in the obstetrics and gynecology department of CHUYO.

Materials And Method: A cohort of 68 women victims of genital mutilation has received clitoral reconstruction by a new technique of transposition of the clitoris. They were operated and followed for 12 months in CHUYO gynecology ward in Ouagadougou.

[Intensive care in Africa: a report of the first two years of activity of the intensive care unit of Ouagadougou national hospital (Burkina Faso)].

Objective: Intensive care units (ICUs) are very expensive and their role and effectiveness in developing countries are discussed; yet, their performance in these countries was infrequently reported. We report the experience over the first two years of activity of the multidisciplinary intensive care unit of the Ouagadougou national hospital. The analysis of such experience raises the issues related to intensive care in a developing country in terms of technical and social efficiency.
