Introduction: Locoregional recurrence (LR) is common in locally advanced head and neck cancer (HNSCC), posing challenges for treatment. We analysed outcome parameters and toxicities for patients being treated with radiotherapy (RT) for LR-HNSCC and investigated patient and disease related prognostic factors in this prognostically unfavourable group.
Methods: This analysis includes 101 LR-HNSCC patients treated with RT, radio-chemotherapy (RCT) or radio-immunotherapy (RIT) between 2010 and 2018 at a high-volume tertiary centre.
Objective: Radical vaginal trachelectomy is a fertility-preserving treatment for patients with early cervical cancer. Despite encouraging oncologic and fertility outcomes, large studies on radical vaginal trachelectomy are lacking.
Method: Demographic, histological, fertility, and follow-up data of consecutive patients who underwent radical vaginal trachelectomy between March 1995 and August 2021 were prospectively recorded and retrospectively analyzed.
Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the healthcare system and medical education. In this publication, the influence of the pandemic on the education of physicians active in Head and Neck oncology was examined using a survey.
Methods: A survey comprising 53 questions was conducted to gather data on work settings, daily activities, team events, and educational aspects during the pandemic.
Study Objective: This study aimed to present our case series of patients with early-stage cervical cancer undergoing simple trachelectomy (ST). Currently, radical trachelectomy is considered the most appropriate fertility-preserving procedure for the treatment of early-stage cervical cancer. However, there is increasing debate on the appropriate radicality of the surgery to preserve oncologic safety.

In patients with larger tumors a fertility sparing concept is considered experimental. The aim of our study is to present oncological and fertility outcomes of laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy followed by neoadjuvant chemotherapy and subsequent radical vaginal trachelectomy.

Since it is unclear which factors determine the success of rSBRT, we investigated a cohort of patients with lung metastases treated with rSBRT.
Patients And Methods: In our retrospective single-center analysis, we included patients with oligometastatic disease of different cancer types who underwent SBRT of lung metastases using an Accuray Cyberknife device between 2012 and 2019.
Purpose: Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) detected by positron-emission tomography (PET) using fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) appears to be a promising target for cancer imaging, staging, and therapy, providing added value and strength as a complement to [F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) in cancer imaging. We recently introduced a combined single-session/dual-tracer protocol with [F]FDG and [Ga]Ga-FAPI for cancer imaging and staging. Malignant tissue visualization and target-to-background uptake ratios (TBRs) as well as functional tumor volume (FTV) and gross tumor volume (GTV) were assessed in the present study with single-tracer [F]FDG PET/computed tomography (CT) and with dual-tracer [F]FDG&[Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT.

While the evidence for dose-escalated RT up to 80 gray (Gy) is well established, there have been only few studies examining dose escalation above 80 Gy. We initiated the present study to assess the safety of dose escalation up to 84 Gy.

Background: Radiation therapy (RT) is given to about half of all people with cancer. RT alone is used to treat various cancers at different stages. Although it is a local treatment, systemic symptoms may occur.

However, the potentially life-threatening toxicities of CAR T-cells and early relapses remain a challenge. As suggested by smaller monocentric analyses, radiotherapy (RT) in combination with CAR T-cells may have an immunomodulatory effect.

The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of curative chemoradiation therapy (CRT) with regard to basic geriatric screening in elderly patients in order to elucidate prognostic factors. Thirty-four elderly patients > 70 years with EC treated at our cancer center between May 2014 and October 2018 fulfilled the selection criteria for this retrospective analysis.

Preliminary evidence suggests that detection and staging are feasible with PET/CT imaging using [68Ga]-radiolabeled inhibitors of FAP also in cervical cancer (CC). Our study aims to explore the accuracy of [68Ga]Ga-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI)-46 PET/CT and [18F]F-FDG PET/CT compared with histopathological results of surgical lymph node (LN) staging before primary chemoradiation.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the toxicity and efficacy of CRT in patients ≥ 65 years. In a cohort, the focus centered around treatment-related toxicity (CTCAE Grade > 3), overall survival as well as progression free survival, comparing these rates in-between patients older than 70 years to those younger than 70 years.

Preliminary evidence suggests that detection and staging is feasible with positron emission tomography (PET/CT) imaging using [ Ga]-radiolabeled inhibitors of FAP ([ Ga]Ga-FAPI-46) in HNCs. This study aims to compare [ Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT and [F]-fluorodeoxy-D-glucose ([F]F-FDG) PET/CT with a focus on improved target volume definition and radiotherapy planning in patients with HNC referred for chemoradiation.

All patients received [F]-FDG PET/CT and dual-tracer PET/CT after an additional injection of [Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 after the [F]-FDG PET/CT. Two readers visually compared detection rate and analyzed target-to-background ratios for tumor and metastatic tissue in single- and dual-tracer PET/CT.

The aim of this study was to evaluate prognostic factors for therapeutic outcome and to compare effects of concurrent and non-concurrent RT-ICI. We retrospectively analyzed data of 93 patients with 319 BMs of different cancer types who received PD-1 inhibitors and RT at the University Hospital Cologne between September/2014 and November/2020.

Methods: A comparative treatment planning study was performed on 14 patients, and the results were compared according to conventional dose-volume metrics. In addition, estimates of the excess absolute risk (EAR) of secondary cancer induction were determined for the bowel, the bladder and the rectum.
Purpose: The HD16 trial of the German Hodgkin Study Group (NCT00736320) demonstrated that radiation therapy in early-stage Hodgkin lymphoma without risk factors cannot be safely omitted, and therefore combined modality therapy (CMT) remains the standard treatment. To demonstrate the local effect of consolidating involved-field radiation therapy (IF-RT), we performed an analysis of the recurrence pattern of positron emission tomography (PET)-negative HD16 patients.
Methods And Materials: Between 2009 and 2015, 1150 patients with early-stage Hodgkin lymphoma without risk factors were randomly assigned to PET guided to 20 Gy IF-RT after 2 cycles of doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine chemotherapy in the HD16 study of the German Hodgkin Study Group.
