Aim: Lifestyle factors significantly influence the development of inflammatory diseases, and emerging evidence suggests they may also impact oral health. However, no studies have explored their role in apical periodontitis (AP) amongst adults. This study aimed to assess the association between adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MD), physical activity, perceived stress, and sleep quality with the periapical and caries status in a university-based cohort.

The prevalence of dental caries presents a global public challenge, particularly in children. Traditional caries risk assessment tools like Cariogram are effective but often complex and resource intensive. The aim of the present study was to introduce, for the first time, a newly designed caries risk assessment (CRA) tool named Index of Caries Risk (ICR) and to evaluate its efficacy for pediatric patients.

Root canal therapy (RCT) is usually performed in Romania by general dentists (GDPs) because they are more readily available and more reasonably priced than endodontists. Concerns have been raised about the quality of RCTs performed by GDPs, possibly due to insufficient equipment or knowledge; therefore, this study aims to investigate current endodontic practices in Romania. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted via a questionnaire distributed to 400 randomly selected Romanian dentists, with 285 fully validated completed responses (71.

Article Synopsis
  • The introduction of nickel-titanium rotary instruments has transformed endodontic procedures by creating well-tapered shapes and minimizing operator fatigue, although they come with a high fracture risk due to bending and torsional stress.
  • The review aims to summarize glide path preparation methods and their implications for endodontic success, including the reduction of procedural errors and improved treatment outcomes.
  • A comprehensive analysis of 116 articles reveals that glide paths decrease root canal transportation and reduce immediate postoperative pain, but more randomized trials are essential to determine their overall impact on treatment success.

Article Synopsis
  • As people age, maintaining oral health becomes essential for daily activities, but age-related decline poses challenges for dental care in older adults.
  • A systematic review analyzing literature found connections between various oral health indicators (like the number of teeth and periodontal disease) and bone mineral density issues in those aged 60 and over.
  • Key findings suggest that having fewer teeth is linked to higher risks of fractures and lower bone density, while periodontal disease is associated with osteoporosis, highlighting the importance of oral health for bone health in older individuals.*

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to explore the link between apical periodontitis (AP) and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in 65 patients aged 40 and older, assessing their dental health and cardiovascular conditions.
  • - Results showed that over half of the patients with AP (57.58%) exhibited signs of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis, with multiple regression analysis indicating that AP significantly increased the risk of carotid plaques and thickening of the carotid artery walls.
  • - The findings suggest that AP could serve as an important risk indicator for ASCVD, demonstrating a 5-fold and 15-fold higher risk for carotid plaques and marked intima-media thickness, respectively, though other dental health measures

Aim: The epidemiological relationship between periodontitis and caries remains controversial, and evidence synthesis is currently lacking. Therefore, this systematic review was designed to answer the following PECO question: 'In human adults (P), do subjects suffering from periodontitis (E) have higher presence/number of untreated carious lesions and caries experience (O) than subjects not suffering from periodontitis (C)?'.

Materials And Methods: Observational studies that met specific inclusion criteria established to answer to the PECO question were included.

Diagnosis is a key aspect in endodontic treatment, in a decade where invasive interventions are misapprehended as social tendency instead of medical necessity. All diagnostic facets should be considered before intending the operative phase. Intraoral endodontic radiology-based diagnosis has been shown to be limited.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic relapsing inflammatory T-cell mediated disease who affects patients' daily activities and life quality. The association between sleep quality, dermatological quality of life (QoL) and psoriasis severity has been poorly investigated to date. The aim of this study is to investigate how sleep quality impacts on the severity of psoriasis, and to assess whether the different therapies used for psoriasis affect the dermatological QoL.

Endodontic and periodontal disease are conditions of infectious origin that can lead to tooth loss or develop into systemic hyperinflammation, which may be associated with a wide variety of diseases, including cardiovascular. Endodontic and periodontal treatment often relies on antibiotics. Since new antimicrobial resistances are a major threat, the use of standard antibiotics is not recommended when the infection is only local.

Mandible can be affected by a great variety of neoformations, like aneurysmal bone cyst, odontogenic myxoma, CGCG (Central Giant Cell Granuloma), GCT (giant cell tumor), sarcoma, ameloblastoma, lymphoma, ossifyng fibroma, odontogenic mixoma, granuloma, arteriovenous malformations and Schwannoma. Occasionally is not possible to find clinical or radiological distinctive findings so is usefull to perform additional exams, think about rare disease and perform an explorative surgical treatment which can be adapted to the intraoperatory findings. This attitude may help to reduce overtreatment but also to be radical especially in case of rare condition like the case presented: a Central Giant Cell Granuloma of the jaws.
