The vestibular system is responsible for our sense of balance and spatial orientation. Recent studies have shown the possibility of partially restoring the function of this system using vestibular implants. Electrical modeling is a valuable tool in assisting the development of these implants by analyzing stimulation effects.

We present an incentivized laboratory experiment where a random sample of individuals playing a series of stag hunt games are forced to make their choices under time constraints, while the rest of the players have no time limits to decide. This paper shows that under weather variability the transformation from a rural to an incomplete market economy can increase the vulnerability of peasants to famine. This can occur even if improvements in technology have raised agricultural productivity and made production less responsive to weather variability. Indeed, negative environmental shocks can produce a drop in wages that outweighs the increase in wages due to an equivalent positive environmental shock.
