Polyamines serum levels in episodic and chronic migraine.

: Previous studies focused on food as the trigger of a migraine attack did not consider polyamines as possible activators and sensitizers of the trigeminal-vascular system through their interaction with NMDA glutamate receptors. Therefore, this study aimed to assess serum levels of nine polyamines and to evaluate their role as possible triggers and crisis maintainers in episodic and chronic migraine patients. : The study included 50 patients with episodic migraine (EM), 50 patients with chronic migraine (CM) and 50 healthy controls (HC).

Abyssal oceanic circulation and acidification during the Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum (MECO).

The Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum (MECO) is a global warming event that occurred at around 40 Ma and lasted about 500 kyr. We study this event in an abyssal setting of the Tasman Sea, using the IODP Core U1511B-16R, collected during the expedition 371. We analyse magnetic, mineralogical, and chemical parameters to investigate the evolution of the sea bottom conditions at this site during the middle Eocene.

ALD of ZnO:Ti: Growth Mechanism and Application as an Efficient Transparent Conductive Oxide in Silicon Nanowire Solar Cells.

In the quest for the replacement of indium tin oxide (ITO), Ti-doped zinc oxide (TZO) films have been synthesized by atomic layer deposition (ALD) and applied as an n-type transparent conductive oxide (TCO). TZO thin films were obtained from titanium (IV) -propoxide (TTIP), diethyl zinc, and water by introducing TiO growth cycle in a ZnO matrix. Process parameters such as the order of precursor introduction, the cycle ratio, and the film thickness were optimized.

Does aquatic thermal therapy improve quality of life after total hip replacement? A retrospective preliminary pilot study.

Hydrokinesiotherapy has antalgic and muscle relaxant properties, as well as anti-edema and anti-inflammatory effects. Currently, the management of persons with total hip replacement (THR) consists of multiple pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, which include therapeutic exercise, physical therapies, and education. Our hypothesis is that kinesiotherapy in thermal water would improve functional outcome.
