Epistemological Trends in the Literature on Mobile Devices, Mobile Learning, and Learners with Visual Impairments.

This study is significant because learning with mobile devices is increasing as a method of educating and training learners with visual impairments, but evaluation of its method is rare. In addition, the epistemological model used in this study is designed to improve future research designs. This article reviews the literature on the use of mobile devices by learners with visual impairments in a variety of learning environments.

Reduction of Postanesthetic Pediatric Distress: A Coordinated Approach.

Purpose: Preoperative anxiety in children is associated with postoperative distress in recovery. Both are predictors of long-term maladaptive behavior. Remedies have been suggested to modify individual risk factors, but overall strategy is lacking.

Insomnia: can acupuncture help?

Insomnia is the forgotten partner to many medical problems, not least chronic pain where interference with sleep is a common complaint. However, the relationship is complex: lack of sleep can exacerbate pain through increase in proinflammatory cytokine production. Diagnosis and management of fibromyalgia: how and why.

SUMMARY Fibromyalgia is a medically controversial disorder consisting of widespread muscular pain, fatigue and sleep disturbance. There are some similarities to chronic fatigue syndrome and it may have a significant psychological component. Comorbidities such as irritable bowel and restless legs syndromes are common; new diagnostic criteria have recently been formulated to take account of the multiple symptoms.
