Article Synopsis
  • - Post-stroke dysphagia, a serious condition affecting swallowing, may benefit from new treatments like transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) combined with behavioral therapies.
  • - In a study involving 44 patients, the actual TDCS group showed significant improvement in swallowing abilities compared to the sham group, based on assessments using the Mann Assessment of Swallowing Ability (MASA) and Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS).
  • - Results indicated that after one month, a larger percentage of patients in the TDCS group reached higher levels of swallowing function than those in the sham group, suggesting that targeting the supramarginal gyrus (SMG) could enhance recovery in stroke patients with dysphagia.

A questionnaire was designed covering demographic information and the parameters of KAP.
