Objective: To study whether a multi-layer silicone-adhesive polyurethane foam dressing shaped for the sacrum prevents PUs development in addition to standard PU preventive care for at-risk hospitalized patients.

Design: Open-label, parallel group, multi-center randomized controlled trial.

Nurses' perspectives on physical activity promotion in cancer patients: A qualitative research.

Purpose: The present study aimed to qualitatively examine the perspectives of nurses about physical activity in cancer patients.

Method: A purposive sample of nurses was recruited by email. Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior, focus group interviews were conducted.

Knowledge and use of e-cigarettes among nursing students: results from a cross-sectional survey in north-eastern Italy.

Background: Data on electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use among health professional students, who can play a central role in promoting healthy habits and smoking cessation, are sparse. Moreover, the association between e-cigarettes and smoking habits is still debated. The present study aimed to investigate the diffusion of e-cigarette use among nursing students in north-eastern Italy and explore its association with tobacco smoking.

Fluid Therapy Management in Hospitalized Patients: Results From a Cross-sectional Study.

Purpose: Intravenous (IV) fluid therapy is widely used in hospitalized patients. It has been internationally studied in surgical patients, but little attention to date has been dedicated to medical patients within the Italian context. The aims of the present study were to describe the prevalence of fluid therapy and associated factors among Italian patients admitted to medical and surgical units, describe the methods used to manage fluid therapy, and analyze the monitoring of patients by clinical staff.

Nutraceuticals in psychiatric practice.

Nutraceuticals can be defined as food components or active principles present in aliments which have positive effects for health and quality of life, including preventing or treating disorders. Herbal and "natural" food supplements are increasingly used to treat different psychiatric disorders, often as "self-prescribed" therapies. With factors such as chronic illness, poor health, emotional distress, and quality of life influencing the desire for complementary medicine, patients with comorbid medical and psychiatric problems seem likely to turn to this approach.

Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome in a patient with 47(XXX) syndrome: a case report.

Introduction: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of a comorbidity between Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome and 47 (XXX) syndrome. The clinical picture of Gilles de la Tourette's Syndrome is well described, while 47 (XXX) syndrome is much more rare and has a broader spectrum of possible phenotypic presentations.
