Objective: To identify lateralizing features during seizures in infants and assess their reliability.

Methods: Infants were included if they had video-EEG monitoring at our institution, and were seizure-free for at least 12 months after epilepsy surgery. Lateralizing signs and seizure symptomatology were classified based on blinded video review.

Purpose: To determine the lateralizing value of ictal urinary urgency.

Methods: A retrospective database search was performed for patients with ictal urinary urgency admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at the Cleveland Clinic between 1994 and 2001.

Results: Six patients were identified; intracarotid amytal test demonstrated left hemispheric speech dominance in five cases.

Objectives: The substantia nigra in the animal model has been implicated in the control of epilepsy. The substantia nigra pars reticulata (SNpr) receives afferents from the subthalamic nucleus (STN), which thus may have an effect on the control of epilepsy. There is evidence in the animal model of a direct connection from the cortex to the STN.
