To compare two screening strategies for diabetic retinopathy (DR), and to determine the health-economic impact of including optical coherence tomography (OCT) in a regular DR screening. This cross-sectional study included a cohort of patients (≥ 18 years) with type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus (T1D or T2D) from a pilot DR screening program at Oslo University Hospital, Norway. A combined screening strategy where OCT was performed in addition to fundus photography for all patients, was conducted on this cohort and compared to our existing sequential screening strategy.

Purpose: To describe the trends in hospital utilization and economic outcomes associated with the transition from laser to intravitreal injection (IVI) therapy for diabetic retinopathy (DR) at Oslo University Hospital (OUH), which provides the largest retina service in Norway.
Methods: This descriptive study analyzed hospital administrative data and determined the average utilization and treatment proportions of laser therapy, IVIs and vitrectomy for each patient per year. The Chi-square test was used to compare resource use between treatment groups.
Purpose: To devise a simple, fast, and low-cost method for glaucoma assessment using digital image analysis of the angle and optic nerve in human subjects.
Methods: Images from glaucoma and fundus assessment were used in this study, including color fundus photographs, standard optic nerve optical coherence tomography (OCT), and digital slit-lamp images of the angle/gonioscopy. Digital image conversion and analysis of the angle using ImageJ (NIH, USA) and adaptive histogram equalization contrast-limited AHE (CLAHE) to prevent noise amplification were implemented.
