The Inner Ambon Bay (IAB) is an important area for the economic development of the city of Ambon, one of only a few urban areas in eastern Indonesia. This study is intended to monitor the anthropogenic impact on IAB by employing combined rock magnetic and geochemical analyses on 20 samples collected from IAB and the surrounding rivers. Magnetic susceptibility values of samples in the IAB averaged 26.

Almost all of the iron sand found in Indonesia, from Sumatra to Papua, is sandy deposit. Despite its variety of minerals, iron sand is commonly mined for low economic uses such as building material. As iron sands from different localities might have different characteristics (grain-size distribution, mineralogy, magnetic properties), such characteristics might in turn be used for provenance study or for selective mining.

This article presents rock texture and mineralogy, as well as major and trace elements of lava from Ijen Crater and Mount Blau, Ijen Volcanic Complex (IVC), East Java, Indonesia related to article entitled "Rock Magnetic, Petrography, and Geochemistry Studies of Lava at the Ijen Volcanic Complex (IVC), Banyuwangi, East Java, Indonesia" [1]. Six lava samples were taken from three lava flows that are the product of the eruption of the Ijen Crater and three lava samples from a lava flow that is the product of the eruption of Mount Blau. The samples were crushed and used for measuring major and trace elements using XRF method.
