Introduction: Acute appendicitis is the most common abdominal urgency around the world. Recent studies have investigated the efficacy of platelet distribution width (PDW) in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.

Objectives: To determine if there is a correlation between PDW and the diagnosis of patients with acute appendicitis and to define their relation to the phases of appendicitis.
