A 7-year-old female spayed Australian shepherd dog was presented for an acute onset of inability to stand. On physical examination, the dog was unable to support weight on the thoracic limbs. On neurological examination, the thoracic limbs had absent hopping and paw placement and reduced withdrawal reflexes bilaterally.

However, more is needed to invest in the foundational infrastructure and resources that are necessary for building and maintaining lasting trusting research partnerships and supporting them to generate impactful CBPR-based research knowledge and solutions. Small CBPR Grants Program is a CBPR-seed-funding program that may be particularly helpful to minority-serving institutions' and universities' goal to invest in genuine community-engaged participatory research.

Herein, we demonstrate the naturally occurring tyrosine to histidine substitution of amino acid 221 (Y221H) in -derived cephalosporinase (PDC) enables CAZ and TOL hydrolysis, leading to similar kinetic profiles ( = 2.3 ± 0.

We present consensus guidelines for management of agitation among pediatric patients in the ED, including non-pharmacologic methods and the use of immediate and as-needed medications.
Methods: Using the Delphi method of consensus, a workgroup comprised of 17 experts in emergency child and adolescent psychiatry and psychopharmacology from the the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Emergency Child Psychiatry Committee sought to create consensus guidelines for the management of acute agitation in children and adolescents in the ED.
Education, Training and Research Associates (ETR) employed a centralized evaluation (CE) approach to monitor progress toward COMPASS (COMmitment to Partnership in Addressing HIV/AIDS in Southern States) goals and demonstrate the impact of grantmaking, capacity-building, and HIV-related service delivery. Evaluators 1) developed streamlined surveys to capture people served and impact; 2) held routine meetings with partners to contextualize data; 3) implemented partner feedback loops for refinement; and 4) provided partners with evaluation technical assistance. This streamlined the evaluation process for more than 350 organizations serving people living with HIV (PLWH), which permitted timely outcomes and impact data.

Much is told regarding the need for greater diversity in the biomedical research workforce in terms of race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. However, there are few evidence-based models that are tested and can have significant effects in this regard. Thus, there is a need for development and evaluation of innovative models that may help train a more diverse biomedical research workforce.

The purpose of this article is to describe the process of establishing a community-campus network with a distinct mission and vision of developing trusting and successful research partnerships that are sustained and effective. In 2019, Morgan CARES was established to facilitate community engagement by founding a community center "within" a low-income residential neighborhood as a safe and accessible hub for creating a vibrant learning community.

We describe pilot programs at nine institutions supported by the NIH-sponsored Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) program aimed at increasing diversity in biomedical research.
Methods: We collected data from the 2016-2017 Higher Education Research Institute survey of faculty and NIH progress reports for the first four years of the program (2015-2018).
Poor maternal nutrition can negatively affect fetal and placental growth and development. However, the mechanism(s) that contribute to altered placenta growth and function are not well understood. We hypothesized that poor maternal diet would impact signaling through the C-X-C motif chemokine ligand (CXCL) 12-CXCL4 axis and/or placental expression of the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) axis.

Infants in the NICU are likely at risk. There have been no previous screening studies to quantify delirium rates in the neonatal population.

Yet, despite its importance, the placenta remains one of the least understood organs and knowledge of early placental formation is particularly limited. Abnormalities in placental development result in placental dysfunction or insufficiency whereby normal placental physiology is impaired.

The transferrin isoelectric focusing (TIEF) test is a screening test for congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG). We identified abnormal TIEF test in children with epilepsy in our epilepsy genetics clinic.

Little is known about the burden of delirium in children in the peri-transplant period. This study was designed to determine delirium rates, define risk factors (demographic and treatment related), and establish feasibility of multi-institutional bedside screening for delirium in children undergoing hematopoietic cell transplant.

Multiple national and international health and environmental agencies have accepted that PFAS exposures are associated with numerous adverse health effects. Australian firefighters have been shown to have elevated levels of PFAS in their blood, specifically perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), due to the historical use of AFFF.

Our objective for this study was to characterize sleep quality and quantity in hospitalized children with cancer by using parental surveys and actigraphy, to evaluate the association between subjective and objective sleep measures, and to describe hospital-associated risk factors related to poor sleep.
Methods: Cross-sectional study of children aged 0 to 18 years old admitted to a pediatric oncology ward.
Objective: Delirium occurs frequently in critically ill children, with highest rates reported in children under 5 years old. The objective of this study was to measure the residual effect of delirium on quality of life at 1 and 3 months after hospital discharge.
Design: Prospective observational cohort study.

There are more than 150 inherited metabolic disorders in patients presenting with ataxia in addition to global developmental delay, encephalopathy episodes, a history of developmental regression, coarse facial features, seizures, and other types of movement disorders. Seizures and a history of developmental regression especially are important clinical denominators to consider an underlying inherited metabolic disorder in a patient with ataxia.

Design: Prospective double-blinded observational cohort study.
Setting: Eight-bed mixed PICU (post-surgical and internal medicine) from May 2017 to June 2018.
Objectives: Children with developmental disabilities are at high risk for developing delirium when critically ill. However, existing pediatric delirium screening tools were designed for children with typical development. The objective of this study was to improve the specificity of the Cornell Assessment for Pediatric Delirium, to allow for accurate detection of delirium in developmentally delayed children admitted to the PICU.

A clinical pathway (CP) was developed to address this need. Pediatric delirium contributes significantly to morbidity, mortality, and costs of inpatient care of medically ill children and adolescents.
