During the #MeToo movement, the perceived morality of public figures changed in light of sexual assault allegations against them. Here, we asked how these changes were influenced by the perceived severity of alleged actions and by how well-known and well-liked were the public figures. Perceived morality was assessed by measuring (im)moral language usage in 1.

However, its utility to predict poststroke mortality is unknown. Here, we examined whether the LACE+ index risk category assessed at both discharge (dLACE+) and admission (aLACE+) was associated with 90-day mortality after stroke.

Many neurologists report a lack of education and experience in providing palliative care. We developed a simulation-based curriculum to improve residents' confidence and comfort with conducting late-stage goals of care (GOC) conversations.

Ferroptosis is characterized by an accumulation of ROS within the cell, leading to an iron-dependent oxidative damage-mediated cell death. ER-induced ferroptosis may have potential as an alternative for ovarian cancers that have become resistant due to the presence of Ras mutation or multi-drug resistance1 (MDR1) gene expression.

Design: We calculated stay-level facility costs using different methods. Method 1 used routine costs per day and ancillary cost-to-charge ratios.
Background: The experience of patients with brain metastases treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) may shape attitudes towards salvage therapy. Furthermore, physician attitudes towards salvage therapy may differ based on specialty and experience. Our objective is to compare physician attitudes and patient experiences with SRS.

MPS IVA is associated with a wide gamut of respiratory and airway disorders that manifest in a continuum of severity. In individuals exhibiting severe phenotypic expression, terminal stages of the disease frequently culminate in life-threatening, critical airway obstruction.

Multiple mechanisms have been identified to support this relationship, including changes in sensory processing and food choice. Taste researchers have recently begun to explore whether changes in taste occur as a result of short-term or long-term sleep habits.

Identifying cellular-level changes is essential for implementing therapeutic interventions prior to symptomatic disease onset. However, monitoring brain tissue directly through biopsies is invasive and poses a high risk.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are valued for their potential as biomarkers of human health, chemical and molecular carcinogenesis, and therapeutics to treat disease at the cellular level. EVs are released both during normal growth and in response to toxicity and cellular death, playing key roles in cellular communication.

Traditional methods involve animal testing, but ethical concerns and the need for human-relevant models have prompted the exploration of alternatives. Pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) are versatile cells with the unique ability to differentiate into any cell type, serving as a foundational tool for studying human development.

High-throughput profiling of fungal and animal genomes has revealed that RNA Polymerase II often initiates transcription in both directions at the promoter transcription start site, but generally only elongates productively into the gene body. Additionally, Pol II can initiate transcription in both directions at cis-regulatory elements such as enhancers.

High-throughput profiling of fungal and animal genomes has revealed that RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) often initiates transcription in both directions at the promoter transcription start site (TSS), but generally only elongates productively into the gene body. Additionally, Pol II can initiate transcription in both directions at cis-regulatory elements (CREs) such as enhancers.

We piloted an intervention to remind physicians about high PC needs of their patients admitted with catastrophic stroke.
Methods: We worked with colleagues from medical informatics to create a "Best Practice Advisory" (BPA) to recommend a goals-of-care conversation and PC consultation for patients with a National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score of 20 or more in our electronic medical record (Epic).
Background: Telestroke is an established telemedicine method of delivering emergency stroke care. However, not all neurological patients utilizing telestroke service require emergency interventions or transfer to a comprehensive stroke center. To develop an understanding of the appropriateness of inter-hospital neurological transfers utilizing the telemedicine, our study aimed to assess the differences in outcomes of inter-hospital transfers utilizing the service in relation to the need for neurological interventions.

Unlabelled: Selecting a major is one of the most consequential decisions a student will make in college. Though major selection is often conceived of as a discrete choice made at a particular point in time, many students change their majors at least once during college. This article examines the process of changing majors as a key education transition.

However, it remains unclear what cfDNA markers might be produced in response to specific tissue-level events. Organoid systems present a tractable and efficient method for screening cfDNA markers.

Methods: Neuromuscular patients or their caregivers, as well as health care providers (HCPs), who completed a televisit during the pandemic received an online survey, assessing satisfaction with the visit, quality of care, and experience with the televisit interference.
Results: Surveys from 46 neuromuscular patients (including 18 with motor neuron disease [MND])/caregivers and 7 HCPs were completed.
Background: We sought to determine mobilization practices following emergency stroke therapy in centers across the United States.
Methods: We surveyed hospitals in the NIH StrokeNet regarding mobilization practices following acute stroke thrombolysis and/or thrombectomy. An anonymous survey was sent out to all StrokeNet sites Survey questions included stroke center designation, location of admission, whether a formal bed rest protocol was in place, minimum bed rest period required, which person first mobilized the patient.
Background: The 2021 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sexually transmitted infection treatment guidelines recommend extragenital testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia in men who have sex with men and for women based on reported behaviors and exposures. The "IWantTheKit (IWTK)" program is a free online platform for specimen self-collection and mail-in for combined chlamydia/gonorrhea testing. We sought to assess the additional diagnostic value of extragenital testing compared with genital testing only for chlamydia/gonorrhea and determine factors associated with a positive extragenital test result among IWTK users.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 1,657 consecutive patients presenting with ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes, included in an institutional stroke registry between January 2018 and August 2020. The primary outcome of interest was unplanned 30-day readmission for any reason after index hospitalization for stroke.
Purpose/objective(s) Lumpectomy followed by whole-breast radiation therapy (WBRT) provides a 50% recurrence rate reduction in ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) patients when compared to lumpectomy alone. Certain factors increase the risk of recurrence, including higher nuclear grade, large size, age less than 50, and close margins. RTOG 9804 demonstrated a reduction in local failure after WBRT with the use of adjuvant radiation in women with "good-risk disease" (mammographically detected, measuring less than or equal to 2.
