Cancer risk assessment from exposure to trihalomethanes in showers by inhalation.

In many countries water disinfection for human consumption is still carried out via chlorination which generates by-products such as trihalomethanes (THM). Exposure to THM constitutes a public health risk as such substances are known to be carcinogenic. This study evaluated exposure to THMs by inhalation in showers and assessed the carcinogenic risk for lifetime exposure.
