This study characterized the quality of primary care based on the responses of professionals and users, focusing on the type of physician - whether or not they were included in the More Doctors Program (PMM, acronym in Portuguese). A cross-sectional study was conducted applying the Quality and Strengthening of Primary Care Questionnaire to 149 physicians and 795 users in basic health units in Pernambuco State, Brazil, from February to November 2018. The present study used the concept of PMM provision which foresees the allocation of medical professionals to an areas of social vulnerability.

This study evaluated in vitro and in silico potential osteogenic of two semisynthetic triterpenes (CL-P2 and CL-P2A) obtained from the pentacyclic triterpene 3β,6β,16β-trihydroxylup-20(29)-ene (CL-1) isolated from C.

However, most chemical processes for the production of these flavoring compounds use toxic organic solvents. Some organic solvents derived from petroleum can leave behind residual traces in food products, which may raise concerns about potential health risks and contamination.

Patients with CKD undergoing dialysis are particularly susceptible to respiratory muscle weakness caused by factors such as fluid overload and electrolyte imbalance. This weakness not only affects ventilation but also impairs oxygen uptake and delivery to muscle tissue, potentially leading to severe sarcopenia.

In this study, pentacyclic triterpene-loaded emulsions were stabilized by polysaccharides from Agaricus blazei Murill mushroom (PAb). The drug-excipient compatibility results by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) showed the absence of physicochemical incompatibilities. The use of these biopolymers at 0.

Method: A cross-sectional, analytical study of 152 nursing auxiliaries and assistants aged 40 years or older was conducted at 3 hospitals in the interior of São Paulo state. Sociodemographic data were collected and the Blatt-Kupperman Menopausal Index, Women´s Health Questionnaire, Medical Outcome Study 36-item Short Form Health Survey and Effort-Reward Imbalance were applied in 2017.
Objective: To understand the actions of nurses from the perspective of the interface of performing with the Expanded Services of Family Health and Primary Care Center.
Method: Qualitative participatory research based on the Freirean Itinerary, from the following steps: thematic research; encoding and decoding; and critical unveiling. The information was obtained through four Culture Circles, with nurses from Family Health teams, between April and June 2018.
Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the antifungal and antibiofilm effects of essential oil (EO) from leaves of Lippia gracilis and its major constituents, thymol and carvacrol, against phytopathogenic fungi.
Methods And Results: The leaves of L. gracilis were hydrodistilled to obtain the EO and the chemical composition was determined by GC/MS analysis.
The pentacyclic triterpene 3β,6β,16β-tri-hydroxilup-20(29)-ene is a natural product produced by the Brazilian medicinal plant Combretum leprosum. Its cytotoxicity has been previously reported against breast cancer cell lines. The low water solubility of this natural product, that hampers its bioavailability, motivated the investigation of a new nanoparticle formulation containing the triterpene in order to improve its bioactivity.

Methods: a qualitative case study performed with Nasf-AB teams representative of four macro-regions of health of the state of Santa Catarina. Participation of 43 professionals, who answered collective interviews.
The increasing demand for renewable energy has been promoting a rapid development of photovoltaic technologies. Given this, photoinduced thermal emission is being explored with the aim of improving solar cell performance by converting low-energy IR photons into visible light. Here, we report the light-induced blackbody emission from LnO2 (Ln = Pr and Tb) as a potential emitter for thermophotovoltaic applications.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to apply a pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics approach to investigate the free propofol plasma levels in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting under hypothermic conditions compared with the off-pump procedure.
Methods: Nineteen patients scheduled for on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting under hypothermic conditions (n=10) or the equivalent off-pump surgery (n=9) were anesthetized with sufentanil and propofol target-controlled infusion (2 μg/mL) during surgery. The propofol concentration was then reduced to 1 μg/mL, and a pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics analysis using the maximum-effect-sigmoid model obtained by plotting the bispectral index values against the free propofol plasma levels was performed.
Objective: To estimate the prevalence of burnout in intensivist doctors working in adult, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units in five Brazilian capitals.
Methods: Descriptive epidemiological study with a random sample stratified by conglomerate with 180 intensivist doctors from five capitals representing the Brazilian geographic regions: Porto Alegre (RS), Sao Paulo (SP), Salvador (BA), Goiania (GO) and Belem (PA). A self-administered questionnaire examining sociodemographic data and the level of burnout was evaluated through the Maslach Burnout Inventory.
Objectives: Understand the existence of a relation between the caregiver's overload of a stroke sequel patient and the family support.
Methods: Quantitative/Qualitative research, described by six caregivers registered in the Basic Health Network in Chapecó/SC - Brazil. For (data) information gathering, the Burden Interview scale of Zarit Burden and a semi structured interview were used.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the magnitude of occlusal changes in individuals with unilateral cleft lip and palate (CLP). The study was conducted on study cast models of 25 subjects, 14 men and 11 women aged from 7 to 20 years, without previous orthodontic treatment and with surgical repair carried out at São Marcos Hospital, Teresina, Piauí State, Brazil.
Methods: The cast models were assessed by three orthodontists based on the occlusal scores established by Atack et al.

Objective: To compare the quality of life of patients on hemodialysis without depression (A) and those with some level of depression (B).

Background: Meningococcal polysaccharide (MPLS) vaccines protect against Serogroup C disease, but do not produce an immune response in infants less than two years of age. This limitation can be overcome by linking C polysaccharide to carrier proteins ('conjugating'), to create meningococcal serogroup C conjugate (MCC) vaccines. In the absence of trial data, the immune response to vaccination has been considered to be a reasonable surrogate for vaccine protection.

Methods: A quasi-experimental study, with a before-and-after design, involving adult patients diagnosed with CAP and hospitalized between July of 2007 and October of 2008 in the general ward of the Marília School of Medicine Hospital das Clínicas, located in the city of Marília, Brazil.
Results: During the study period, 68 patients were diagnosed with CAP: 48 before the implementation of the guidelines and 20 after their implementation.
Background: Chronic osteomyelitis is generally treated with antibiotics and surgical debridement but can persist intermittently for years with frequent therapeutic failure. Despite advances in both antibiotics and surgical treatment, the long-term recurrence rate remains at approximately 20% to 30%.
Objectives: To determine the effects of different systemic antibiotic treatment regimens for treating chronic osteomyelitis in adults.
Purpose: Cardiopulmonary bypass is known to alter propofol pharmacokinetics in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. However, few studies have evaluated the impact of these alterations on postoperative pharmacodynamics. This study was designed to test the hypothesis that changes in propofol pharmacokinetics increase hypnotic effects after cardiopulmonary bypass.
