Prevalence and severity of undetected manifest glaucoma: results from the early manifest glaucoma trial screening.

Purpose: To estimate the prevalence and severity of undetected glaucoma in the population.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Participants: A total of 32 918 subjects aged 55 to 79 years from Malmö, Sweden, who were screened between 1992 and 1997.

[Two serious eye injuries after tampering with fireworks].

In this article we describe two separate cases of serious eye injuries that were the result of two teenagers´ attempts to make home-made explosives out of fireworks. They had tampered with the same brand of fireworks, Víti, that appears to be popular for this purpose and instructions are available on the internet. One boy got an intraocular glass splinter and underwent vitrectomy for removal.
