Safety of rapid intravenous paracetamol infusion in paediatric patients.

Purpose: Paracetamol is recommended as a first-line treatment for pain and fever in paediatric patients. Intravenous (IV) infusions are recommended to be administered as a 15-min infusion to minimize local tissue trauma and related pain. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that IV paracetamol could be administered during 5 ​min or less in paediatric patients without causing related adverse reactions.

Analytical Interference by Contrast Agents in Biochemical Assays.

Objective: To provide a clinically relevant overview of the analytical interference by contrast agents (CA) in laboratory blood test measurements.

Materials And Methods: The effects of five CAs, gadobutrol, gadoterate meglumine, gadoxetate disodium, iodixanol, and iomeprol, were studied on the 29 most frequently performed biochemical assays. Incorrect storage of medicines and potential for cost savings.

Objective: Incorrect storage and handling of refrigerated medicines may result in destruction of medicines and financial loss for hospitals. At the Medicine Information Centre we receive and answer queries on drug-related issues. In this study we aimed to investigate and quantify savings made following advice supplied by the Medicine Information Centre in reply to queries regarding the incorrect storage of refrigerated medicines.
