The review highlights that gut dysbiosis, worsened by surgery, stress, antibiotics, and poor diet, can lead to increased infection risk and slower recovery.

Integrating Practice-Changing Studies in Gynaecologic Oncology Through Clinical Illustrations.

Advances in gynaecologic oncology research lead to continuous updates in clinical guidelines. However, undergraduate medical education often lacks in-depth coverage of recent developments, limiting students' preparedness for evidence-based management of gynaecological cancers. This study aimed to bridge the educational gap by integrating case-based analyses of practice-changing studies into the undergraduate obstetrics and gynaecology course.

The FUT2 gene encodes an enzyme called α-1,2-fucosyltransferase, which is involved in the formation of blood group antigens AB0(H) and is also involved in the processes of vitamin B12 absorption and its transport between cells. FUT2 gene polymorphisms are associated with vitamin B12 levels in the body. Vitamin B12 deficiency associated with hyperhomocysteinemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which are one of the main causes of death in patients after kidney transplantation.

Methods: 365 recipients who underwent kidney transplantation from a donor with known brain death between 2010 and 2017 were included in this retrospective study. Information from patient medical records, donor medical records, and donation and transplantation protocols was used for analysis.

Post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is a common complication that occurs in kidney transplant patients, increasing the risk of infection, cardiovascular disease and loss of graft function. Currently, factors that increase the risk of this complication are being sought, among them polymorphisms in genes that regulate carbohydrate metabolism and influence pancreatic β-cell function. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of selected polymorphisms of genes affecting carbohydrate metabolism, such as rs10946398, rs1799884, rs780094 and rs2191349, with the development of post-transplant diabetes in kidney transplant patients.

The Arterial Anastomosis Between Deep Inferior Epigastric Artery and Small Polar Renal Artery in Kidney Transplantation: A Case Report.

The presence of multiple renal arteries is the most common form of vascular anomalies found in donor kidneys. In rare cases, small renal polar arteries may be found.
