Validating the Danish version of the Eating Disorder Quality of Life Scale (EDQLS) in anorexia nervosa.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the factor structure of the Danish translation of the eating disorder quality of life scale and evaluate the internal reliability and convergent validity of the scale in a Danish cohort of women with AN.

Methods: The total sample comprised 211 patients diagnosed with anorexia nervosa age 13-40 years. Patients completed questionnaires assessing eating disorder psychopathology, physical and social functioning, and well-being.

Background: In Denmark, only generic health-related quality of life measures have been developed to assess quality of life in patients with eating disorders. So far, no disease-specific questionnaires have been translated and validated. The objective of this study was to translate the Eating Disorders Quality of Life Scale into Danish and to perform a preliminary validation of the questionnaire in a small sample.

Cognitive behavioural therapy for ADHD in adults: systematic review and meta-analyses.

Systematically review and analyse the efficacy of CBT versus treatment as usual in adults with ADHD. The literature was systematically searched ending the 28 March 2014. Standardised mean differences (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals were calculated.

[Anorexia nervosa is frequently associated with psychiatric co-morbidity].

Recent literature is explored focusing on the relationship between symptoms of anorexia nervosa (AN) and other psychiatric disorders and lines of treatment. In AN, restrictive subtype, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders are the most frequent co-morbidities. In AN, bulimic subtype, depression, emotional instability/borderline and dependency disorders are most frequent.

Beneficial effect of brief intensive cognitive behavioural therapy-based psychiatric aftercare for early discharged non-psychotic patients.

Introduction: In Denmark, following psychiatric emergency admission, patients with depression, anxiety or personality disorders are discharged as early as possible due to pressure on psychiatric beds. However, the receiving out-patient units frequently have waiting time. The design of a brief, cognitive-based psychiatric aftercare service and the early treatment results are presented.

Turner syndrome is usually diagnosed by physical characteristics, i.e. low height and infertility.

Proprioceptive information processing in schizophrenia.

This doctoral thesis focuses on brain activity in response to proprioceptive stimulation in schizophrenia. The works encompass methodological developments substantiated by investigations of healthy volunteers and two clinical studies of schizophrenia spectrum patients. American psychiatrist Sandor Rado (1890-1972) suggested that one of two un-reducible deficits in schizophrenia was a disorder of proprioception.

Distraction task rather than focal attention modulates gamma activity associated with auditory steady-state responses (ASSRs).

Objective: To explore the modulation of auditory steady-state response (ASSR) by experimental tasks, differing in attentional focus and arousal level.

Methods: 20 Hz and 40 Hz click trains were used to elicit ASSRs. Experiment 1 consisted of two runs of closed eyes and two runs of open eyes.

Attenuation of beta and gamma oscillations in schizophrenia spectrum patients following hand posture perturbation.

Several electroencephalographic (EEG) studies in schizophrenia report that the patients have reduced evoked gamma activity following visual and auditory stimulation. Somatosensory gamma activity has not previously been examined. It has been suggested that a dysfunction basic to schizophrenia spectrum traits would involve proprioceptive information processing and this has recently been supported by the finding of diminished latency of early proprioceptive evoked potentials in a sample of chronic schizophrenia patients.
