Ivabradine monotherapy in congenital junctional ectopic tachycardia.

Congenital JET (junctional ectopic tachycardia) is a rare and often difficult to treat tachyarrhythmia in young infants. The addition of Ivabradine to standard Congenital JET therapy has been shown to improve arrhythmia control. However, Ivabradine has not been reported as a single drug in the control of congenital JET.

Impact of Systematic Training and CPAP Checklist in the Prevention of NCPAP Related Nasal Injuries in Neonates- A Quality Improvement Study.

Objective: Nasal continuous positive airway pressure (NCPAP) related nasal injury in neonates is a type of device-related pressure injury and is a common event with the varying incidence in different hospitals. Understanding and adhering to the recommendation of the manufacturer in fixing the NCPAP interface is vital for the prevention of nasal injuries. A quality improvement initiative was undertaken to decrease the incidence of NCPAP related nasal injuries in a Level 3 neonatal unit by using a customized NCPAP checklist and application of the checklist using Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles.

Objective: To examine whether high protein intake during the first week of life alters the growth and neurodevelopmental outcomes at 18 mo corrected age (CA) in preterm infants born < 29 wk.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of preterm infants (<29 wk) before and after introduction of nutritional policy targeting higher protein intake during the first week of life. The authors compared the growth and neurodevelopmental outcomes at 18 mo CA between infants born before (epoch 1) and after (epoch 2) the introduction of nutrition policy.
