Background: Imbalances in cytokine networks have been shown to be a possible cause of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The interleukin (IL)-12 family is involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases including RA, while IL-39 is a newly discovered member of the IL-12 family, although its role in RA remains unclear. Article Synopsis
  • Gout is a common disease, and this study aimed to understand the levels of interleukin-41 (IL-41) in gout patients, which had not been previously reported.
  • The research involved 81 participants, including patients with acute gout, those in remission, and healthy controls, using blood tests to measure IL-41 levels and analyze correlations with other health parameters.
  • Findings showed that IL-41 levels were significantly higher in acute gout patients compared to healthy controls and suggested that IL-41 could serve as a diagnostic marker for acute gout, especially when combined with uric acid levels.
