Tissue factor (TF) initiates local blood clotting and infiltration of tumor-associated macrophages, leading to tumor recurrence post-local ablation. Our study addressed inefficient cancer cell killing and immunosuppressive macrophage infiltration after percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We evaluated the feasibility of F-radiolabeled polypeptide TF-targeted radioligand (tTF) as a PET tracer for assessing tumor response.

This study presents the isolation and genomic characterization of a potentially new bacterial strain, sp. JS-SCA-14, which exhibits significant plant growth-promoting effects through phosphorus solubilization.

Omega-3 fatty acids are widely recognized for their neuroprotective properties, but the evidence regarding their efficacy in mitigating cognitive decline remains mixed. Through a comprehensive analysis of eleven randomized controlled trials, we aimed to assess the role of DHA in improving cognitive functions and slowing brain atrophy.

Spondylocarpotarsal synostosis syndrome (SCTS) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by vertebral fusion, short stature, and skeletal anomalies. SCTS is primarily associated with mutations in filamin B. However, in this report, we present a unique case of SCTS in a 28-year-old male who complained of neck and shoulder pain persisting for 1 year.

However, mapping this heterogeneity is challenging owing to the lack of experimental methods that quantify the SOC at the electrode scale, while also offering nanoscale resolution for in-depth analyses of individual particles. Herein, this work reports an advanced projection X-ray microscopy that combines nanometric resolution, a large field of view, and high chemical sensitivity using spectroscopic imaging.

While accessing very high temperatures in thin-film epitaxy is becoming increasingly accessible through laser-based heating methods, demonstrations of such utility are still emerging. The study realizes a novel self-regulated growth mode in the Ti-O system by relying on thermally activated diffusion of oxygen from an oxide substrate.

The current 2024 guideline, developed by the Korean Society of Endometriosis (KSE), builds upon the 2018 KSE guideline. This guideline aims to provide customized recommendations tailored to Korea's unique clinical aspects and medical environment, and addresses key areas such as diagnosis, medical and surgical management, considerations for special populations, and its complex relationship with cancer.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the incidence and risk factors for recurrent proximal junctional failure (R-PJF) in adult spinal deformity (ASD) surgery.
Methods: Among 482 patients receiving ≥ five-level fusion to the pelvis for ASD, 60 patients who underwent fusion extension surgery for PJF were included in the study cohort.

Objective: To determine how sleep insufficiency affects the occurrence of acute coronary syndrome in the presence of obesity.
Methods: The observational study was conducted in South Korea on the basis of data collected by a cohort study conducted from January 2001 to December 2020, and comprised adults of either gender aged 40-69 years. During the 20-year period, 9 follow-up surveys were conducted at two-year intervals.
Background: Inflammatory myopathy is generally categorized into generalized inflammatory myopathies (gIM), which affect muscles throughout the body, and focal inflammatory myopathies (fIM), which are localized to specific muscles or muscle groups. This report details a case of immune-mediated polymyositis in a dog, successfully diagnosed using MRI and IHC and managed with immunosuppressive therapy.
Case Presentation: A 5-year-old castrated male Poodle was admitted to our hospital presenting with lethargy and exercise intolerance.

Objective: To compare abbreviated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to complete MRI for treatment response assessment of colorectal liver metastases.
Material And Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive patients with colorectal liver metastases between January 1, 2012, and December 3, 2021, who were undergoing chemotherapy and who had at least one follow-up gadoxetic-enhanced MRI. For each patient, two MRIs (baseline MRI and follow-up MRI) were randomly selected.
Objectives: To examine how vertebral attenuation changes with aging, and to establish age-adjusted CT attenuation value cutoffs for diagnosing osteoporosis.
Materials And Methods: This multi-center retrospective study included 11,246 patients (mean age ± standard deviation, 50 ± 13 years; 7139 men) who underwent CT and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in six health-screening centers between 2022 and 2023. Using deep-learning-based software, attenuation values of L1 vertebral bodies were measured.
This study assessed the accuracy and reliability of artificial intelligence (AI)-reconstructed images of two-dimensional (2D) lateral cephalometric analyses of facial computed tomography (CT) images, which is widely used for the diagnosis of craniofacial deformities and in the planning of their treatment. Facial CT datasets from 40 patients were collected. Original 1 mm slices were reformatted to 3 mm, and then an AI algorithm reconstructed the 3 mm slices and converted them back to 1 mm to generate lateral cephalometric images.

Given that the MHC represents the most polymorphic region in the human genome, HLA typing is crucial in organ transplantation. It significantly influences graft rejection, graft-versus-host disease, and the overall patient outcome by mediating the discrimination between self and nonself.

It has also been shown that in-field failure predominates following intravascular brachytherapy-treated lesions. Accordingly, it may be advantageous to increase the radiation dose(s) currently used.

Introduction: The use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) during pregnancies complicated by systemic lupus erythematosus or refractory antiphospholipid antibody syndrome has demonstrated a significant ability to prevent pre-eclampsia (PE). As such, the potential for the administration of HCQ to prevent PE in other high-risk pregnancies is an important clinical research agenda among maternal and fetal medicine specialists. Mechanistically, the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects of HCQ can offer vascular protection and inhibit the placental dysfunction-associated thrombotic changes underlying the pathophysiology of PE, fetal growth restriction (FGR) and fetal death in utero (FDIU).
