Aim: This study was aimed to investigate the presence of and its virulence genotypes in dental plaques of Iranian patients with chronic periodontitis.

Background: is a Gram-negative bacterium that is associated with atrophic gastritis, peptic ulcer, and gastric cancer. Several studies have detected this bacterium in the oral cavity, suggesting it as a potential reservoir.

Comparison of salivary epidermal growth factor levels in patients with gingivitis and advanced periodontitis and healthy subjects.

Objective: Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a polypeptide molecule, with important functions in epithelial growth and wound repair. It exerts its effects on cells by binding to receptors on the cell surface. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare salivary EGF levels in patients with gingivitis and advanced periodontitis as well as in healthy controls.

Accuracy assessment of a marker-free method for registration of CT and stereo images applied in image-guided implantology: a phantom study.

To assess the accuracy of a proposed marker-free registration method as opposed to the conventional marker-based method using an image-guided dental system, and investigating the best configurations of anatomical landmarks for various surgical fields in a phantom study, a CT-compatible dental phantom consisting of implanted targets was used. Two marker-free registration methods were evaluated, first using dental anatomical landmarks and second, using a reference marker tool. Six implanted markers, distributed in the inner space of the phantom were used as the targets; the values of target registration error (TRE) for each target were measured and compared with the marker-based method.

Inhibitory activity of Salvadora persica extracts against oral bacterial strains associated with periodontitis: An in-vitro study.

Aims: The use of natural plant extracts in pharmacology, medicine and dental hygiene has found a growing interest in modern scientific research. Salvadora persica is a natural tree whose fibrous branches have been approved by the World Health Organization for oral hygiene. Periodontitis is a highly prevalent adult gingival disease that leads to bone destruction and connective tissue attachment loss.
