The experience with the use of a method of bone plasty developed by the authors in the treatment of 13 children with a pathologic fracture of metacarpal bones is summarized. In follow up of from 1 to 6 years, the complete reconstruction of a transplant with replacing the defects by bone tissue which do not differ in structure from the own one was noted. A hand function restored to the full volume.

In the article is proposed the method of treatment of finger phalanx tumors in children, localized in the area of growth zones. By application of the proposed method the authors operated on 12 children aged 3-15 years in connection with the benign tumors of finger phalanx bones. Long-term results were followed up with all patients during 1-5 years.

The article is devoted to the results of the treatment of 264 children with hematogenic osteomyelitis. The analysis of the changes of the extremities length growth depending on the children's age, the form of the disease, the localization of the osteomyelitic process and the administered treatment is presented. The authors have proposed a new method of stimulating the growth of the shortened tubular bones in cases of difference in the length of the extremities up to 3 cm in the children of the younger age group.

The authors analyse the causes of functional and morphological disorders of the locomotor apparatus in 172 patients who had suffered from complicated forms of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis in childhood 2 to 36 years age. They accentuate the necessity for prognosing orthopedic deformities in complicated osteomyelitis processes following a protracted course in a growing organism. Analysis of the cause of disability makes it possible to elaborate stage-by-stage rehabilitation.
