Liver fibrosis represents an inevitable stage of various chronic liver diseases. The activated hepatic stellate cells (aHSCs) are the main drivers for promoting the development of liver fibrosis. Meanwhile, liver macrophages can secrete pro-inflammatory cytokines, thus accelerating the deterioration of the liver.

Vascular remodeling is a dynamic process involving cellular and molecular changes, including cell proliferation, migration, apoptosis and extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis or degradation, which disrupt the homeostasis of endothelial cells (ECs) and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Cigarette smoke exposure (CSE) is thought to promote vascular remodeling, but the components are complex and the mechanisms are unclear. In this review, we overview the progression of major components of cigarette smoke (CS), such as nicotine and acrolein, involved in vascular remodeling in terms of ECs injury, VSMCs proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and ECM disruption.

Despite these findings, evidence is still lacking to determine whether these metabolites directly promote or prevent BCC's progression. Therefore, our study aims to examine the potential effects of circulating metabolites on BCC progression.

Methods: Forty female SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model, electroacupuncture (EA), and agonist groups, with 10 rats in each group. Except for the blank group, rats in the other groups were given folium sennae infusion by gavage combined with chronic unpredictable mild stress to establish IBS-D model.
Background And Purpose: Liver fibrosis is a wound-healing reaction which is the main cause of chronic liver diseases worldwide. The activated hepatic stellate cell (aHSC) is the main driving factor in the development of liver fibrosis. Inhibiting autophagy of aHSC can prevent the progression of liver fibrosis, but inhibiting autophagy of other liver cells has opposite effects.

Objective: To investigate whether acupuncture leads to better effects on CSU than sham acupuncture or waitlist control.
Design: A multicenter, randomized, sham-controlled trial.
Liver fibrosis is one of the most common and highly prevalent chronic liver diseases caused by multiple pathogenic factors, and there is still no effective therapeutic drugs up to now. The activated hepatic stellate cells (aHSCs) are the main executor in liver fibrosis, and the autophagy plays a key role in the proliferation and differentiation of aHSCs, which promotes the development of liver fibrosis. However, autophagy has the opposite effect on the different kinds of liver cells in the development of liver fibrosis, and the clinical treatment has been limited by the poor selectivity and inefficient drug delivery to aHSCs.

However, due to degradation and ineffective release during intracellular transport, current gene delivery vectors used for miRNAs limited their actual transfection efficiency. This study develops a novel nonviral vector PEI-SPDP-Man (PSM) that can simultaneously target cellular uptake pathways and intracellular responsive release for miR-34a.

Numerous systematic reviews have been conducted to investigate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in treating adult viral myocarditis (AVM). The objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive overview of systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the efficacy and safety of CHM for AVM.

Methods: A total of 80 participants with CSU from July 2018 to July 2019 were randomly assigned to receive active acupuncture (n=41) on a fixed prescription of acupoints or sham acupuncture (n=39) with superficial acupuncture on non-acupuncture points through the completely randomized design. Patients in both groups received 5 sessions per week for 2 weeks, and participants were followed for a further 2 weeks.
The occurrence of acute thrombosis, directly related to platelet aggregation and coagulant system, is a considerable reason for the failure of small-diameter vascular grafts. Heparin is commonly used as a functional molecule for graft modification due to the strong anticoagulant effect. Unfortunately, heparin cannot directly resist the adhesion and aggregation of platelets.

Peripheral blood nucleated cells from five CHD patients with PBS syndrome, five CHD patients with non-PBS syndrome, and five healthy adults were collected for RNA-seq. The specific targets of CHD with PBS syndrome were determined by differential gene expression analysis and Venn diagram analysis.

Glutathione peroxidase (GPX4) palys an important role in the inflammatory reaction, which also is the core regulatory protein of ferroptosis. Up-regulation of GPX4 can be helpful to inhibit the cellular ferroptosis and inflammatory reaction to treat ALI.

Wearable flexible sensors are widely used in several applications such as physiological monitoring, electronic skin, and telemedicine. Typically, flexible sensors that are made of elastomeric thin-films lack sufficient permeability, which leads to skin inflammation, and more importantly, affects signal detection and consequently, reduces the sensitivity of the sensor. In this study, we designed a flexible nanofibrous membrane with a high air permeability (6.

Methods: According to a random number table, the Kunming mice were divided into the normal control, FC and EA groups in Experiment I. The autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine (3-MA) was used to observe whether it antagonized the effects of EA in Experiment II.
Breast cancer has become the malignant tumor with the largest incidence, especially the drug resistant triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). The combination therapeutic system can play a better role in resisting drug resistant TNBC. In this study, dopamine and tumor targeted folic acid modified dopamine were synthesized as carrier materials to construct melanin-like tumor targeted combination therapeutic system.

MicroRNA-34a (miRNA-34a) is a promising anti-cancer miRNA for gene therapy to bone metastatic cancer patients. However, the lack of specificity to bone and low accumulation at the site of bone tumor remains the major challenge when used bone-associated tumor.

However, rapid clearance in the blood circulation and ineffective controlled drug release from nanocarriers hamper the therapeutic efficacy of the nano-delivery system. We constructed a tumor microenvironment and redox dual stimuli-responsive nano-delivery system PEG-c-(BPEI-SS-Pt) by cross-linking the disulfide-containing polymeric conjugate BPEI-SS-Pt with the dialdehyde group-modified PEGvia Schiff base.

In blood vessels, endothelial cells (ECs) grow along the direction of blood flow, while smooth muscle cells (SMCs) grow circumferentially along the vessel wall. To mimic this structure, a polycaprolactone (PCL) tubular scaffold with orthogonally oriented bilayer nanofibers was prepared electrospinning and winding. ECs were cultured on the inner layer of the scaffold with axial nanofibers and SMCs were cultured on the outer layer of the scaffold with circumferential nanofibers.
