This study investigated the molecular mechanisms of the interactions between three antitumor active monosaccharides and human serum albumin (HSA) using spectroscopic and electrochemical analyses, supplemented by molecular docking simulations. The antitumor efficacy of these monosaccharides can be significantly enhanced by covalent drug coupling, while HSA, with its long half-life and low immunogenicity, provides new opportunities for the development of advanced antitumor drug delivery systems. The results showed that these monosaccharides effectively burst the fluorescence of HSA.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) glasses are an emerging class of glasses which complement traditional inorganic, organic and metallic counterparts due to their hybrid nature. Although a few zeolitic imidazolate frameworks have been made into glasses, how to melt and quench the largest subclass of MOFs, metal carboxylate frameworks, into glasses remains challenging. Here, we develop a strategy by grafting the zwitterions on the carboxylate ligands and incorporating organic acids in the framework channels to enable the glass formation.

This study aimed to explore the potential mechanism by which sulfasalazine (SAS) inhibits esophageal cancer cell proliferation. A cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was used to detect the effect of SAS (0, 1, 2, and 4 mM) on the proliferation of TE-1 cells. Subsequently, TE-1 cells were divided into control group, SAS group, SAS + ferrostatin-1 (ferroptosis inhibitor) group, and SAS + Z-VAD (OH)-FMK (apoptosis inhibitor) group, and cell proliferation was measured using a CCK-8 assay.

Ethnic medicine has a rich history of application. Because of the large number of ethnic groups, wide geographical distribution, and unique medical systems in China, the research on the human use experience(HUE) of ethnic medicine should combine the characteristics of ethnic medicine, be based on practical experience, and respect folk practice and tradition. The clinical positioning of ethnic medicine should consider three factors, i.

The study aimed to explore the mechanism and targets of Shenfu Injection in the regulation of inflammatory injury in chronic heart failure rats based on the high mobility group box-1/Toll like receptor 4/nuclear factor kappa-B(HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB) signaling pathway. The rat model of chronic heart failure was established using isoproterenol. The modeled rats were divided into three groups by random number table: the model group, Shenfu group and glycopyrrolate group, and the normal group was also set.

Background: Tic disorders (TD) is a neuropsychiatric disease with twitch as the main manifestation in childhood. Jiu-Wei-Xi-Feng granules has been marketed in China for treating children with TD. As Long Gu (Os Draconis) in the composition of this Chinese patent medicine is a rare and expensive medicinal material protected by the Chinese government, therefore, we consider replacing it with Mu Li (Concha Ostreae) that has the same effect and is cheaper.

Article Synopsis
  • Human Use Experience (HUE) is crucial for developing Chinese medicine, leading to the drafting of an Expert Consensus to ensure reliable research and evaluation of clinical data.
  • The research aims to clarify the clinical value, dosage, preparation process, and resource assessment of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) prescriptions while adhering to medical ethics and quality control measures.
  • Through systematic study, the consensus seeks to establish clear protocols, minimize bias in data collection, and ultimately create standardized reports that inform on the efficacy and safety of TCM treatments.

Solid-state electrolyte (SSE) is crucial for a high-performance all-solid-state battery. Here, a new solid sodium electrolyte based on the ionic liquid EIMS-NaTFSI and one metal-organic framework (MOF) UiO-67-MIMS functionalized with zwitterion groups MIMS was obtained (UiO-67 and was assembled with 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylate linker and cluster ZrO(OH)) (EIMS = 1-(1-ethyl-3-imidazolio)propane-3-sulfonate, NaTFSI = sodium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide, MIMS = 1-(1-mthyl-3-imidazolio)propane-3-sulfonate). By contacting and pairing EIMS-NaTFSI (abbreviated as EN-1) to the MIMS group on the framework, EN-1 was directed and arranged along the channels within UiO-67-MIMS, forming a solid composite EN-1@UiO-67-MIMS with Bragg scatter, , a crystalline ionic liquid containing Na salts (NaTFSI).

  • Treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD) in children is typically focused on managing symptoms, with traditional remedies like Shenqu Xiaoshi Oral Liquid (SXOL) gaining attention despite limited evidence of effectiveness.
  • A clinical trial compared the efficacy of SXOL versus domperidone syrup over 2 weeks in children aged 3-14 who met the Rome IV criteria for FD, involving 356 participants across 17 medical centers in China.
  • Results showed that SXOL was non-inferior to domperidone, with similar clinical response rates (83.10% for SXOL vs. 81.01% for domperidone) and significant improvements in symptom scores for both treatments, although some adverse events

  • Hypertension is a prevalent cardiovascular disease that can significantly impair patients' quality of life due to symptoms like dizziness and high blood pressure.
  • The study reviews various animal models of hypertension, including gene-related, surgery-caused, drug-induced, and environment-induced models, while assessing their clinical relevance.
  • Recommendations are made to enhance these models for better alignment with clinical hypertension characteristics, improving diagnostic and treatment approaches in both traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

Real world study(RWS) refers to the process of collecting real world data related to the health of research subjects in the real world environment for pre-set clinical problems and obtaining the status of drug use and potential benefits/risks through analysis. The data are derived from the hospital information system(HIS), medical insurance system, disease registration system, adverse drug reaction monitoring system, etc. Human use experience of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is a new concept put forward by experts after summarizing the problems existing in clinical trials of new TCM drugs.

  • The quality of new drug clinical trials in China has improved since the implementation of GCP in 2015, but remains below the standards of developed countries, particularly in trials involving traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
  • There are unique quality issues in TCM clinical trials, including non-standardized safety data collection, inadequate management of serious adverse reactions, and insufficient evaluation of the relationship between adverse events and trial drugs.
  • To enhance the quality of TCM new drug trials, it is crucial to adapt current GCP guidelines to better fit the characteristics of TCM, establishing specific quality control measures that can support the development of new drugs in this field.

At present, the issues regarding multi-center clinical trials of new drugs of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) remain: the lack of agreement on the content and scope of the ethical review among the ethics committee members of the center and the participating units results in repeated review, which leads to a time-consuming ethical review process. Moreover, the review capabilities of the ethics committees of various research centers are uneven, which is not necessarily beneficial to the protection of subjects' rights and safety. In view of the existing problems, to improve the efficiency of ethical review of multi-center clinical trials of new drugs of TCM and avoid repeated reviews, the TCM Clinical Evaluation Professional Committee of Chinese Pharmaceutical Association organized experts to formulate the "Consensus on collaborative ethical review of multi-center clinical trials of new drugs of TCM(version 1.
