Article Synopsis
  • This study focused on how the composition of green biomass (like trees and shrubs/grasses) affects temperature and humidity in urban residential areas.
  • Using aerial photography and field research, researchers analyzed the relationship between various green biomass indicators and local thermal conditions.
  • Results indicated that the most effective cooling and humidifying effects occurred within 50 meters of buildings, with specific tree canopy metrics being crucial for maintaining thermal comfort for residents.

Article Synopsis
  • Nitrogen (N) deposition has increased and impacts the growth and competition between invasive plants and native species, specifically focusing on the invasive species Oenothera biennis and three native species.
  • Experiments showed that while N deposition improved growth metrics for both invasive and native plants, O. biennis outperformed some natives due to its superior resource acquisition abilities, though some natives like Artemisia argyi matched its competitiveness.
  • The findings suggest that the competitive advantage of invasive species over natives is not universal and may depend on which native species are present, highlighting the importance of considering native community composition in managing biological invasions.

Objectives: Variceal hemorrhage is a fatal complication of cirrhosis. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of serum interleukin 2 receptor (sIL-2R) as a predictive indicator in patients with a previous history of cirrhosis-related variceal bleeding.

Methods: A total of 340 cirrhotic patients who had experienced variceal bleeding from December 2016 to December 2018 were enrolled, and were randomly assigned to the modeling group and the validation group.

Coronary heart disease preoperative diagnosis plays an important role in the treatment of vascular interventional surgery. Actually, most doctors are used to diagnosing the position of the vascular stenosis and then empirically estimating vascular stenosis by selective coronary angiography images instead of using mouse, keyboard and computer during preoperative diagnosis. The invasive diagnostic modality is short of intuitive and natural interaction and the results are not accurate enough.

Previous studies suggested an association between the EGF +61 A>G polymorphism and susceptibility to gastric cancer, but the results have been inconsistent. To draw a more precise risk estimation of the association, we performed a meta-analysis of published studies. PubMed, EMBASE, Google Scholar and the Chinese Wanfang databases were systematically searched to identify relevant studies.
