Insufficient nitrogen removal is a key challenge for the application of an osmotic membrane bioreactor (OMBR). The integration of a bioelectrochemical system (BES) and an OMBR was constructed to enhance nitrogen removal.To optimize the operation, five aeration intensities and three draw solutes (DSs) were applied in the proposed system.
