Background: This meta-analysis aimed to assess the rate of malignant transformation (MT) of oral leukoplakia (OL) and to study potential risk factors for the MT of OL into oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

We used multi-row detector computed tomography (MDCT) to identify the distinguishing characteristics of hepatic paragonimiasis and small hepatocellular carcinoma lesions. We analyzed a cohort of 60 patients, of which 26 had hepatic paragonimiasis and 34 with a small (≤ 3cm) hepatocellular carcinoma. MDCT detected 65 lesions that were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed based on their imaging features.

Combination therapy to inhibit cancer stem cells may have important clinical implications. Here, we examine the molecular mechanisms by which epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a bioactive polyphenol in green tea, inhibits the stem cell characteristics of glioma stem-like cells (GSLCs) and synergizes with temozolomide (TMZ), a DNA-methylating agent commonly used as first-line chemotherapy in gliomas. We found that tetrandrine (TET) can reverse the resistance of Candida albicans to fluconazole (FLC) and that this interaction is associated with the inhibition of drug efflux pumps. Objective: To observe the effect of Tiam-l gene silencing on the metastasis of human colorectal carcinoma cell line SW480 in nude mice by real-time whole-body fluorescence imaging.

Methods: Enhanced green fluorescence protein (EGFP)-labeled human colorectal carcinoma cells, SW480/EGFP(+)/Tiam-1(-) and SW480/EGFP(+), were implanted into nude mice via tail vein injection or orthotopic colonal inoculation, and real-time whole-body fluorescence imaging was performed to compare the difference in tumor progression and metastasis between the two cells.

Results: Both SW480/EGFP(+) and SW480/ EGFP(+)/Tiam-1(-) cells stably expressed EGFP, and Tiam1 gene expression was reduced in SW480/EGFP(+)Tiam-1(-) to 30% of the expression level in SW480/EGFP(+) cells.

Methods: Immunohistochemistry SP method was used to detect the expression of PTEN, PIP3 and cyclin D1 in 63 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma, 29 cases of simple hyperplasia, 33 cases of dysplasia, and 25 cases of normal oral mucosa.
