A new type of sorbent functionalized with π-hole bond, perfluoronaphthyl bonded magnetic nanosorbent (FeO@SiO-CF), was designed and synthesized. The morphology, structure and magnetic properties of the sorbent were characterized. The results of a comparative experiment with naphthyl bonded magnetic nanosorbent (FeO@SiO-CH) revealed that the π-hole bonds between perfluoronaphthyl and PAHs improved adsorbilities for PAHs in water compared to the traditional π-π interactions between naphthyl and PAHs.

Under the dual pressures of food security and soil cadmium (Cd) pollution in China, the use of an oilseed rape-rice rotation system and phytoremediation has been proposed as an effective measure to extract heavy metals from soil, achieve safe rice production, and alleviate soil heavy metal stress. A three-year field rotation experiment by straw removal was conducted in light to moderate Cd-contaminated soil in Hunan, China. The experiment involved rotating two oilseed rape varieties, LSYH and ZYZ, with two rice varieties, the low-accumulation variety XWX and the high-accumulation variety TYHZ.

De novo variants adjacent to the canonical splicing sites or in the well-defined splicing-related regions are more likely to impair splicing but remain under-investigated in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). By analyzing large, recent ASD genome sequencing cohorts, we find a significant burden of de novo potential splicing-disrupting variants (PSDVs) in 5048 probands compared to 4090 unaffected siblings. We identified 55 genes with recurrent de novo PSDVs that were highly intolerant to variation.

Rhamnan sulfate, a rhamnose-rich sulfated polysaccharide, is present in the cell walls of green seaweed belonging to the genus Monostroma. The paper introduces two new methods, namely the cross correlation method (CCM) and two-dimensional correlation method (TDCM), for preprocessing Raman spectroscopy data for analyzing Chinese handmade paper samples. CCM expands the spectral dimension from 1×N to 1×2N-1 by taking cross-correlation between two spectral data of the same category. TDCM includes two-dimensional synchronous correlation method (TDSCM) and two-dimensional asynchronous correlation method (TDACM), which expand the spectral dimension from 1×N to N×N by taking tensor products between two spectral data and between one spectral data and the Hilbert transformation of the other spectral data of the same category, respectively.

A green, high-efficiency, and wide pH tolerance water remediation process has been urgently acquired for the increasingly exacerbating contaminated water. In this study, a Fe/persulfate (Fe/PS) system was employed and enhanced with a green natural ligand cysteine (Cys) for the degradation of quinclorac (QNC). The introduction of Cys into the Fe/PS system widened the effective pH range to 9 with a superior removal rate for QNC.
