Article Synopsis
  • Repairing full-thickness cheek defects after tumor removal poses challenges due to large size, differing axis orientations, and unique shapes/volumes of defects.
  • A study conducted in 1999 examined nine patients undergoing reconstruction with lateral femoral circumflex perforator flaps, showing promising results in restoring cheek and oral functions.
  • The use of these chimeric flaps offers advantages like easier three-dimensional fitting and adaptability to the specific needs of both oral lining and cheek skin.
