Purpose: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common type of hair loss in humans, affecting self-esteem and emotional well-being. This study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of VISPO, a standardized saw palmetto oil (2-3% β-sitosterol), in subjects with mild-to-moderate AGA.
Methods: In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, four-arm clinical study, 80 healthy male and female subjects aged 18-50 years were randomly allocated (1:1:1:1) to receive either 400 mg capsules of VISPO or 5 mL of a topical formulation containing 20% VISPO or the respective placebo once daily for 16 weeks.
Context: Preparations of have been used by herbalists to boost the immune system.
Objective: In this study, (L.) Moench (Asteraceae) extract with enriched chicoric acid content was investigated for immunomodulation.
Purpose: (grains of paradise) seeds have been demonstrated to possess thermogenic potential. However, it is necessary to validate the functional attributes of seed extract in human subjects.
Methods: In a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial design, we have examined the thermogenic effects of a standardized seed extract (AfperFit).
Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are the common health concern in populations across the world. Clinical evidence suggests that IBD, characterized by intestinal inflammation, is associated with neuronal manifestations to a greater extent. In this study, we have investigated the protective effects of Viphyllin™, a standardized black pepper (Piper nigrum) seed extract containing 30% β-caryophyllene against dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis in mice.

Here, we have investigated for the first time the therapeutic effects of a standardized L., (black pepper) seed extract, Viphyllin in mitigating hyperglycemia and neuropathic pain of type 2 diabetes model rats.

Purpose: Plant-based natural products as anti-nociceptors have enormous potential as safer alternatives to conventional opiates and NSAIDS. (black pepper) is one of the major culinary spices with medicinal attributes.
Methods: In the present study, the antinociceptive activity of a standardized black pepper seed extract (Viphyllin) containing not less than 30% β-caryophyllene (BCP) was evaluated using pain models in mice, namely acetic acid-induced writhing test, formalin-induced paw licking test, hot plate test and tail flick test.
Objective: Turmeric is a culinary spice valued since ancient time for its medicinal properties, mostly attributed to curcumin, the major polyphenol present. The safety of curcumin is well established in humans. However, the tolerability of curcumin is largely determined either in subjects with existing health problems, or in healthy individuals at low doses.

In this study, we have prepared an extract from Piper nigrum (black pepper) seeds using supercritical fluid extraction, standardized to contain 30% BCP (Viphyllin ). The beneficial effects of prophylactic treatment with Viphyllin on cognitive functions were demonstrated in Scopolamine-induced dementia model mice.

Here, we document the oral acute and sub-chronic toxicity of a standardized decaffeinated green coffee bean extract containing 50% chlorogenic acids (CGA-7™) in rats.
Methods: We have performed a limit test at single oral dose of 2000 mg/kg to evaluate the acute toxicity in female Wistar rats.
Cholinesterase inhibition is a common strategy to treat Alzheimer's disease. In this study, we have investigated the cholinesterase inhibitory effects of a first-of-its-kind turmeric extract (REVERC3) having enriched content of bisdemethoxycurcumin as major active curcuminoid. : The inhibition studies were performed using Ellman's colorimetric assay.

Therefore, it is of interest to document the molecular docking analysis data of the cellular receptor Glucose regulated protein 78 (GRP78) with Withaferin A from Withania somnifera in the context of COVID-19 pandemic for further consideration. Here, we report the optimal interaction features of withaferin A, artemisinin, curcumin and andrographolide with the GRP78 receptor having low binding energies (-8.

Methods: Subjects aged 40-65 years with symptomatic BPH were randomized to 12-week double-blind treatment with 500 mg doses of β-sitosterol enriched saw palmetto oil, conventional saw palmetto oil and placebo orally in the form of capsules (n = 33 in each group). BPH severity was determined using the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), uroflowmetry, serum measurement of prostate specific antigen (PSA), testosterone and 5α-reductase.
Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a pathological condition affecting older men. BPH complications often lead to deterioration in the quality of life. Serenoa repens (Saw Palmetto) is used for treating lower urinary tract infections in traditional medicine.

Background: Plasma free fatty acids (FFA) are involved in blood lipid metabolism as well as many health complications. The present study was conducted to evaluate the potential role of chlorogenic acid complex from green coffee bean (CGA7) on FFA metabolism in high fat diet fed rats.
Methods: Hyperlipidemia was induced in Wistar rats using high-fat diet.
Rural households in India rely extensively on informal biomedical providers, who lack valid medical qualifications. Their numbers far exceed those of formal providers. Our study reports on the education, knowledge, practices and relationships of informal providers (IPs) in two very different districts: Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand (north) and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh (south).
