Management and Rehabilitation of Dentigerous Cyst With 10-Year Follow-Up: A Case Report.

Odontogenic cysts are fluid-filled sacs arising from tooth-developing tissues within the jawbone, often causing swelling, pain, or displacement of teeth. A dentigerous cyst, specifically encapsulating the unerupted tooth's crown, can interfere with dental development by displacing teeth, causing resorption of adjacent teeth, and complicating dental or surgical interventions. This case report represents a long-term follow-up of a 35-year-old male with a large mandibular dentigerous cyst extending to the lower right border of the mandible, associated with a horizontally impacted third molar in the lower right mandibular region.

Adolescent presentations to an adult hospital emergency department.

Objective: Age-related policies allow adolescents to access paediatric and adult EDs. Anecdotally, paediatric and adult EDs report challenges when caring for older and younger adolescents, respectively. Our aim was to describe the characteristics of an adolescent population attending an adult ED, co-located with a tertiary paediatric ED.

Feeding difficulties in neonates following cardiac surgery: determinants of prolonged feeding-tube use.

Unlabelled: Aim The aims of this study were to examine the prevalence and potential correlates of feeding difficulties in infants who underwent cardiac surgery in the neonatal period and to investigate resource utilisation by infants with feeding difficulties.

Methods: All neonates who underwent their first cardiac surgery at the Heart Centre for Children, The Children's Hospital at Westmead, between January and December, 2009 were included. Demographic, preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative data were collected via electronic medical records.

Older adolescent presentations to a children's hospital emergency department.

Objectives: To describe the characteristics, diagnoses and outcomes of older adolescents, aged 16-19 years, presenting to a paediatric ED.

Methods: A retrospective review of total ED presentations by older adolescents to a tertiary paediatric hospital between 2010 and 2012, inclusive, was undertaken to determine if behavioural or mental health problems were common.

Results: A total of 1184 ED presentations by 730 older adolescents were identified.

Effect of carbamazepine therapy on serum lipids in children with partial epilepsy.

Alteration in serum lipids leads to atherosclerosis. Antiepileptic drugs alter serum lipids. The effect of carbamazepine therapy on serum lipids of children with partial epilepsy and correlation of changes with carbamazepine level was prospectively studied.

Estimation of efflux mediated multi-drug resistance and its correlation with expression levels of two major efflux pumps in mycobacteria.

Multidrug resistance has been posing an increasing problem in the treatment of tuberculosis. Mutations in the genomic targets of drugs have been identified as the major mechanism behind this resistance. However, high degree of resistance in some isolates towards major drugs like rifampicin, isoniazid, ethambutol and streptomycin can not be explained solely on the basis of mutations.

Agrobacterium-mediated transient GUS gene expression in buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.).

The study was conducted to standardize a protocol for Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.). Embryogenic calli, produced from one-year-old mature seeds of buffel grass, were used as target cells for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.
