Cell-free collagen-based scaffolds used for making blood vessels in cardiovascular surgery.

The present article deals with the technology of obtaining decellularized cell-free collagen-based scaffolds from arterial vessels and surgical assessment of the possibility of experimentally implanting them into the blood system of laboratory animals for experimental purposes. The study was performed on arterial vessels (n=60) and fragments of the human internal thoracic artery (n=20). Described herein is a method of obtaining a connective-tissue matrix of a blood vessel by means of vessel's perfusion for 2-3 hours with detergent solutions.

A comparison of neuronal reactions during classical and instrumental conditioning under similar conditions.

During the elaboration of an instrumental reflex, it is not obligatory to use a conditioned stimulus, which signals the necessity to generate an instrumental reaction in order to receive reinforcement. However, the presence of a conditioned stimulus simplifies analysis of instrumental reaction, which in this case is the response to the conditioned stimulus. On the other hand, it is necessary to distinguish between instrumental and classical conditioning, since in both cases the response to a conditioned stimulus increases.

Collaboration of trained and foreign neurons during formations of a local instrumental reflex.

At present it is not clear how instrumental actions arise. In our experiments the mollusk Helix received an aversive stimulus when one of its neurons did not generate an action potential in response to a conditioned stimulus. The appearance of an aversive stimulus did not depend on the generation or failure of a spike in the control neuron.

Instrumental conditioning of the activity of putative command neurons in the mollusk Helix.

Gaining insight into the mechanism of generation of goal-directed actions is understanding neural function. In this study we examined the role of the action potential (AP) in a single molluscan neuron (responsible for a defensive response) in an instrumental behavior. The intracellular electrical activity of two neurons was recorded simultaneously.

[The efficacy of enterosorption in bacterial intestinal infections].

The article studies clinic manifestations after the prescription of polyphepanum, SKN-1P (based on recovered carbon) and enterodesum in 35 patients with acute dysentery, 104 patients with acute gastroenterocolitis, and 123 patients with typhoid. The first two drugs turned out to be highly effective for treatment of these infections. Enterosorption produced an insignificant positive effect in cases of typhoid.

[The use of extracorporeal detoxication methods in treating infectious disease patients].

The article summarizes the results of 1090 operations of extracorporal detoxication (ED) performed on severe infectious patients. ED was realized by methods of hemosorption, plasmasorption, plasmapheresis for viral hepatitis, typhoid diseases and mixed infections. For each category of patients indications and counterindications for ED application were worked out.

[Clinical testing of hemo- and plasmosorption on the Aktilen hemosorbent].

The authors make an analysis of using hemosorption and plasmasorption in 43 patients with the help of fibrous sorbent "Actilen". The developed methods have a pronounced detoxicating immunocorrecting, rheocorrecting effect, exert mild aggressive influence on blood and can be used in treatment of surgical, therapeutic and infectious diseases. The following advantages are noted: high sorption and kinetic characteristics of the sorbent, domestic devices and materials, small volume of the filling of mass transfer devices, low cost.
