Automated welding robots face challenges in unstructured field conditions, limiting their use in complex steel structures like pipelines, bridges, and buildings. Expandable convoluted pipe (ECP) poses unique welding challenges due to their confined spaces and irregular shapes. Manually performed butt-welding for ECPs is inefficient.

Article Synopsis
  • * It highlights a specific case where a patient developed B cell lymphoid issues in the spinal cord 11 months after transplantation and was treated successfully with chemotherapy and intrathecal injections.
  • * The case also notes a subsequent development of lymphoma from EBV-positive NK/T cells six months later, which was treated with chemotherapy, leading to complete remission, offering new insights into these rare post-transplant complications.

Article Synopsis
  • Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a serious immune system disorder, with the most common form in adults being Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated HLH (EBV-HLH), which can lead to severe outcomes depending on the type of immune cells affected.
  • In a study of 356 adult patients with EBV-HLH, those who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) had a significantly better 5-year survival rate (48.7%) compared to those who did not receive transplantation (16.2%).
  • Factors like EBV-DNA levels, remission status, and the presence of graft-versus-host disease influenced survival

Article Synopsis
  • Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a severe inflammatory syndrome with a high risk of mortality, and the effectiveness of initial treatment significantly influences survival rates.
  • A study analyzed clinical data from 269 adult HLH patients between January 2017 and December 2020 to identify laboratory predictors that can indicate how well patients respond to treatment, focusing on measurements like serum ferritin, ALT, and blood cell counts.
  • The findings suggest that the ferritin/platelet ratio measured 1-4 weeks after treatment could serve as an effective predictor for treatment response, with a critical threshold indicating poor outcomes being a ratio greater than 16.08.

Article Synopsis
  • Lymphoma-associated haemophagocytic syndrome (LAHS) is a severe and fast-progressing disease, and this study investigates the serum sCD25/ferritin ratio and cytokines for diagnosing LAHS.
  • The research involved analyzing data from 82 LAHS patients, separating them by lymphoma type (B-LAHS or T/NK-LAHS) and treatment response after two weeks of therapy.
  • Results show that a higher sCD25/ferritin ratio could indicate B-LAHS and predict treatment response, particularly when combined with MCP-1, making these measures useful for diagnosis and treatment evaluation.

Article Synopsis
  • EBV-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (EBV-HLH) can present in a range of severities, with worse outcomes reported in adults compared to children.
  • The study analyzed 246 adult patients with EBV-HLH to identify predictors of mortality, finding that older age, lower blood cell counts, impaired kidney function, and elevated procalcitonin and sCD25 levels were associated with higher mortality.
  • A new prognostic tool, the Improved HLH index (IH index), effectively categorizes patients into risk groups and shows that those receiving stem cell transplants had better outcomes, especially in higher risk categories.*

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined adult patients with macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) at Beijing Friendship Hospital and analyzed their clinical features and treatment outcomes over a period from December 2014 to September 2021.
  • Out of 118 patients, a significant number experienced MAS after being diagnosed with autoimmune diseases, with various treatment regimens showing differing overall response rates, notably higher with etoposide-based therapies.
  • Key indicators, such as specific serum levels, were identified as potential predictors for treatment response, and certain clinical factors were found to correlate with worse prognoses, including active MAS status after initial treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • * Achieving complete response (CR) before HSCT significantly improves survival outcomes, with a 92% survival rate compared to 47% for those with partial response.
  • * The study suggests that haploidentical HSCT is both safe and effective for adults with pHLH, and HLA mismatches or monoallelic mutations in donor genes do not negatively impact prognosis.

Background: Malignancies, especially lymphoma, are a common cause of adult secondary HLH and an independent risk factor for the prognosis of HLH patients.

Methods: Patients with lymphoma alone or concurrent lymphoma-associated phagocytic syndrome (LAHS) admitted to Beijing Friendship Hospital from January 2016 to December 2020 were enrolled in this study.

Findings: There were 348 lymphoma patients, 104 concurrent with LAHS.

Background: Currently, most research on hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) have focused on etiology and therapy, leaving few epidemiological reports. The published studies of China are mainly regional investigations. We aimed to present the overall epidemiological status of HLH in China, and provide Chinese data for the international HLH epidemiological investigation.

Virosecurinine, the major alkaloid isolated from Securinega suffruticosa Pall Rehd was found to exhibit growth inhibition and cytotoxicity against huaman colon cancer SW480 cells via the microculture tetrazolium (MTT) assay. Due to its greater cytotoxic potency and selectivity towards SW480 cells, flow cytometry was used to analyze the cell cycle distribution of control and treated SW480 cells whereas Annexin V-FITC/PI flow cytometry analysis was carried out to confirm apoptosis induced by virosecurinine in SW480 cells. Apoptotic regulatory genes were determined by RT-PCR analysis.

Aims: To investigate the anti-tumor effects of L-securinine inducing colon cancer SW480 cell autophagy and explore its potential molecular mechanism.

Main Methods: MTT method was used to detect the antitumor effect of SW480 cells cultured with L-securinine in vitro. Light and electron microscopy were used to observe SW480 cells treated with L-securinine morphological changes.
